Position: Mechanical Integrity Equipment Inspector
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Description
The MI Equipment Inspector ensures that all inspections are planned and performed correctly and meet the applicable code, jurisdictional and/or company requirements. The MI Equipment Inspector performs inspections, interacts with third-party inspection contractors and company inspectors, evaluates NDE results, determines acceptability, writes inspection and repair plans, makes inspection-related recommendations, and follows inspection and repair jobs to completion. The MI Equipment Inspector executes and oversees inspection tasks involving a wide variety of test instruments and equipment to measure values and record functional operation of components and determine acceptability.
Summary of Accountabilities
• Reviews and manages the list of inspections due for assigned unit or units.
• Reviews and manages the list of non-conformances (NCRs) for assigned unit or units.
• Performs or oversees inspections and is responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of the equipment inspection database and inspection history.
• Participates in assigned unit updates and planning meetings to be aware of unit needs and priorities.
• Participates in the identification of end of life items and makes recommendations to managers.
• Provides technical expertise (inspection frequency, type, and requirements)
• Provides day-to-day and occasional off-hour inspection support to the plant and engineering.
• Completes compliance requirements, including compliance matrix, and other training for position, as required.
• Manages change as it pertains to the mechanical integrity program.
• Follows industry trends and developments in mechanical integrity and determines applicability.
Approximately 50% travel is required
Requirements
5+ Years of Inspection-Related Experience
API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspection Certification
API-570 Piping Inspection Certification
Additional Preferred Requirements
Knowledgeable in OSHA Process Safety Management
Experience with Risk-Based Inspection and API RBI Software
Experience Working with Inspection Data Management Systems (IDMS)
Experience Working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
AWS- Certified Welding Inspector
