Ameri-Force is seeking a Welding Manager for direct placement with a client in Norfolk VA. Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates. MUST have an engineering or metallurgy degree and 10 years welding experience in marine or ship repair industry.

Responsibilities:

*Initiate and write welding procedures to support welding production in the Fabrication and Inside Machine Shops
*Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures
*Supervise and oversee the work of welders for quality control and process procedure methods (spend 75% of time on shop floors overseeing workmanship of welders)
*Work with and negotiate pricing with welding supply vendors and control consumable inventory
*Prepare technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations
*Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards
*Test welds for conformance with national code requirements
*Review welding operator qualifications
*Test welding personnel for certification
*Recommend, price, and quote needed welding equipment
*Troubleshoot welding procedures for necessary equipment and consumables
*Maintain inventory and maintenance records of all weld equipment
*Write Welding School curriculum
*Reduce costs in welding processes while contributing to increased productivity
*May perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials
Skills:
Qualifications:

*Bachelors’ Degree in Structural, Mechanical, or Material Engineering, or a degree in Metallurgy required
*A minimum of 10 years experience in welding
*Strong communication skills both written and oral
*Expertise in welding power sources, wire feeders, welding consumables
*Working knowledge of welding codes: AWS, ASME, MIL-STD, AISC, & ABS
*Attention to detail and documentation
*Thorough knowledge of welding processes
*Microsoft office skills
*Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills
*Able to communicate clearly and effectively with governmental/commercial personnel, employees, and management
