JOB TITLE: Coordinator, Predictive Maintenance
DEPARTMENT: Generation
LOCATION: Topeka General Office, Topeka, KS
PAY GRADE: DD - D
PAY RANGE: DD - $73,700 - $92,100
D - $82,900 - $103,600

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. However, hours can be irregular. Nights, weekends, and extra hours will be required as plant conditions dictate.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and direct a team of Predictive Maintenance Analysts devoted to achieving improved reliability of plant operations. Primary responsibility will be overseeing the Westar Boiler Inspection Program, Thermography program, and oil Analysis Program. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: Ongoing review and refinement of boiler inspections. Prepare, recommend and manage yearly boiler budgets based off of past inspections, remaining life analysis calculations and corporate / plant input. Lead and oversee contractors performing boiler inspections and repairs while insuring work is performed safely and in accordance with Westar and industry best practices. Prioritize and coordinate inspection activities for each outage, determine boiler inspection workload, delegate assignments, monitor and evaluate performance of an inspection team. Provide support for maintenance, construction project and outage planning based on inspection recommendations. Conduct visual and NDE methods of testing on all Westar boilers for analysis, summarize and/or review data, interpret results, report findings, and/or make recommendations. Incumbent will maintain detailed inspection or investigation records, prepare reports, and attend to other related administrative requirements. Teach others the principles and techniques used in the specific service or trade, adherence to Company and Industry safety standards and maintenance of related equipment, tools and/or supplies.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and the knowledge, skills and abilities typically associated with six years of related experience in an industrial plant environment operating, maintaining or inspecting equipment. General knowledge in NDT techniques such as UT, MT, PT, RT, ET, VT and Predictive Maintenance Technologies is preferred. An Engineering Technology Degree or Bachelor¡¦s Degree in Engineering is preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
„P Working knowledge of power generation equipment with emphasis on steam generation equipment.
„P Ability to prioritize and coordinate inspection activities for energy center outages.
„P Ability to lead and oversee contractors performing boiler inspections and repairs while insuring work is performed safely and in accordance with Westar and industry best practices.
„P Working knowledge of NDT inspection techniques such as UT, VT, PT, MT, ET and RT.
„P Working knowledge of Predictive Maintenance Technologies such as Infrared Thermography, Oil Analysis and Airborne Ultrasonic¡¦s.
„P Ability to utilize appropriate computer programs, including any PC related applications.
„P Analyzing, interpreting and reporting data in written format.
„P Ability to train management, craft workers and vendors with boiler inspection technology.
„P Ability to quantify program costs, track savings from catastrophic failures avoided.
„P Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to communicate at all levels.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver¡¦s license.

Working Conditions:
Must have the ability to perform the physical activities of the job. Requires extensive on site plant work with some office work. Requires the ability to work outdoors and in an industrial plant environment including, but not limited to, exposure to ambient temperature extremes, dusty/moist environments, climbing ladders and stairways, working at heights on elevated structures and platforms, and working in cramped spaces occasionally which may require bending, stooping, and standing. Requires some work beyond normal working hours as workload and emergency response warrants. Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance.
