Our Reliability Maintenance Service department has an opportunity for a Production Specialist II with a Nondestructive Examination skill set. The position location is Henderson, CO.

The successful candidate will have an Associates degree in Nondestructive Examination from an accredited program or equivalent documented training and experience. ASNT NDE level III in Ultrasonics preferred. Previous experience/certifications in Phased Array inspection of welds and Thermography is preferred. Certification in other methods is desired. Candidate should have a minimum of six (6) years experience in inspection of fossil-fueled power plants, including inspection of all high energy systems (i.e. boilers, turbines, and piping). NDE project management experience is preferred. Experience supervising craft employees is desired. Must be able to travel extensively within the Colorado region and work non-typical schedules. Must be self-motivated and work with limited supervision.

Applies knowledge and utilizes advanced technical expertise in a particular area of specialty in support of operations and maintenance across the Xcel fleet. These specialty areas may be, but are not limited to, Controls, Electrical, Turbine-Generator/Rotating Equipment, Boilers, Plant Performance, Metallurgy or Reliability. Provides technical support consisting of diagnostics analysis, short and long term maintenance/outage planning, resource development, documentation, and reliability centered operations and support. Responsibilities are generally 50% in technical support, 30% in outage support, and 20% in maintaining fleet-wide programs and processes. Position requires oversight of craft employees and extensive interfacing with departments, plants, and OEMs. Extensive travel within geographic region and nation is required.

Essential Responsibilities

Provide technical support in specialty area for Energy Supply facilities, including direct supervision of craft employees. Provide start-up assistance and coordination for maintenance, modifications, and new systems.

Provide major facility maintenance project management for scheduled and unscheduled outages. Ability to function in lead role for minor O&M and capital projects relating to are of expertise. Develop computerized scheduling techniques for major component outages.

Provide technical direction and alternatives for control systems and major equipment problems. Coordinate and evaluate station maintenance programs to improve facility reliability. Make recommendations for corrective action when necessary.

Working with station personnel, coordinate fleetwide maintenance programs in selected area of expertise to improve facility reliability. Assist with Energy Supply's RCOM Program and monitor facility's results.

Assist in conducting periodic audits of Quality Assurance programs and procedures and the development of standards and procedures to support consistent methods and improve reliability.

Act as liaison between contractors/service providers and the Company. Interface with State Inspector, authorized insurance agents, and other regulatory agencies. Write specifications and purchase requisitions to support Production Resources activities.

Skills:
Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (6 years of applicable experience in power generating equipment operations and maintenance processes may substitute for the degree)
Knowledge of power generation facility operations and maintenance processes
Expertise acquired in one or more of the following specialty areas: process control, electrical, turbine-generators/rotating equipment, boilers, plant performance or metallurgy
Ability to travel extensively
Ability to work non-typical schedules
Ability to work with limited supervision
Must be self-motivated
