Inspector

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Witness required inspection, examination, and testing of Code materials and components in accordance with the Quality Control Manual and applicable codes
• Witness in-process inspections of power boilers, pressure vessels, and piping per Code and sign off.
• Perform final inspection per Code on prints and specifications for completed units prior to shipment, including steam drums, piping, boilers, and structural steel, tube and sheet metals, and release after completion of inspection.
• Review drawings and ORs for inspection on a timely basis.
• Check As/Built Material Records.
• Check Mill Test Reports on incoming Section II materials per Section II.
• Check heat charts for compliance with ASME Section I and VIII.
• Check hydro test reports for compliance with ASME Code and internal procedures.
• Verify code stamping of pressure vessels in accordance with the applicable Code requirements
• Evaluates mechanical test results of materials, inspects materials and conducts equipment code shop inspections
• Witnesses welder’s performance tests and welding procedure qualifications, evaluates non-destructive and destructive test results and certifies personnel and procedures.
• Certifies materials, parts and components to applicable equipment codes.
Skills:
• Education: High school graduate, AA degree preferred or equivalent experience. Technical AWS CWI Certification preferred; Technical Training on Quality Control Standards essential.
• Technical AWS CWI Certification beneficial. And/or familiarity with welding standards (ASME & EN)
• Knowledge of mechanical and chemical material testing basics.
• The ability to examine and inspect materials and finish part for defects, wear, and to ensure compliance with work orders.
• Ability to read diagrams, blueprints, geometric tolerances , finish requirements and template specifications
• Ability to read and interpret relevant specifications, codes and standards
• Technical training regarding Quality Control standards essential.
• Must possess strong product knowledge of pressure system components and operation, ability to proficiently interpret technical drawings, documents, and specifications; and ability to apply ASME Boiler Code Standards.
• Must possess advanced knowledge of shop procedures, fabrication and welding processes and related quality standards.
• Technical software skills to keep accurate and easily accessible records: Quality Control software programs and systems; MS software (Word and Excel); MS Outlook; and MRP systems.
• Experience in inspection or assembly preferred.
• Strong communication skills to interface with company personnel to achieve optimal outcomes on manufacture of quality equipment are essential.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel extensively 50%
