PRIMARY FUNCTION
Reporting to the T&V Coordinator, this position requires a certified level II in RT or UT, and level II in MT, and PT, responsible to perform NDE examinations under the direction of the API-653 Tank Inspector on atmospheric pressure above ground storage tanks, or to perform NDE examinations on oil processing pressure vessels in accordance with written procedures. The Technician is responsible to ensure the quality and completeness of all examinations and paperwork. The technician is competent and experienced in interpretations and inspection reporting as well as a self-motivated person able to work at times with little supervision.

Hours of work: 11.5 hours per day (may be longer as conditions demand), 7 days per week on a rotational schedule. Pay is hourly, subject to straight time and overtime. Employees are responsible for travel costs to Anchorage or Fairbanks, AK. Job is located in Prudhoe Bay Alaska.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety

• Train and mentor less experienced personnel.

Reporting
• Able to use a computer to enter inspection results
• Provide a daily status report at the end of every shift
• Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all paperwork and reporting
• Report any equipment problems.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Knowledge
• Currently or previously certified or eligible for level II MT and PT preferred.
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years as a qualified UTII or IIR
• Prior knowledge and experience with tank and/or vessel inspection preferred
• MFE and VB experience and certification preferred

Specific Skills
• Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong leadership skills
• Alaska resident preferred
• Must possess valid, unrestricted Driver’s License

Physical Requirements
• Standing, walking, sitting , lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation and color vision.
• Moving, carrying, lifting, objects in excess of 70 lbs.
• Climbing and working off of ladders, stairs, and scaffolding in excess of 100 ft.
• Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time.
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold.
• Work in and near industrial hazards.
• Ability to repetitively bend and or twist for most of the 11.5 hour shift to reach inspection areas.
• Walk, climb on and maneuver on or around piping, supports and working in cramped conditions, and/or confined spaces.
• Work in crouched position for extended periods. (Up to 60% of shift)
