Alstom Power, Inc., a global leader and provider of power
generation engineering products and services, is seeking an
NDT Inspector II in its Richmond, VA facility.

Basic Functions
The NDT Inspector in the Quality Department performs NDT
inspections on turbines (steam and gas) and generators
components. Basic job functions include but are not limited
to:
Participates in safety training and ensures personal safety
as well as safety of co-workers.
Performs duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Leadman.
Performs NDT inspections within the factory and on site (if
assigned to site work).
Participates in work force development to develop skills and
abilities.
Conducts Hardness Testing
Conducts Magnetic Particle Inspections
Conducts Dye Penetrant Inspections
Conducts Ultrasonic Inspections (Basic and Phased Array)
Conducts Eddy Current Testing
Conduct Hardness Testing
Prepares NCRs
Perform necessary steps to complete I&T Plans
Communicates clearly and professionally with others
Skills:
Essential Functions
The essential functions of the job include, but are not
limited to, the following:
Review safety requirement for magnetic particle inspections
Perform magnetic particle inspection of generator and
turbine rotors, reporting requirements, steam turbine
casings, identification of fusion lines, vane carrier, and
blades
Perform hot magnetic particle inspection
Review safety requirement for dye penetrant inspections
Run dye penetrant line
Perform dye penetrant Inspection - removed blades, retaining
rings and faceplates, installed blades, generator dovetails,
vane carriers, wedges, and hardware
Review safety requirement for Ultrasonic Inspections
Perform Ultrasonic Inspection - bearings/braze coupons,
tenons, blade pins (installed), weld build-up, phased array
weld build-up, phased array L-O steeples, flaw depth sizing,
retaining ring forging and bar stock
Perform eddy current testing on various components
Set up and operate hardness testing-Equotip, Wilson, and
Clark
Demonstrate high quality communication and work skills per
Behavioral Skills section of Skills Matrix
Perform other functions as assigned

Education
High School diploma or GED
Applicable formal training and qualification required to
develop all the skills required by this position
Skills/Experience
3+ years of experience in NDT testing to include Ultrasonic
Testing (UT)
Significant technical experience (approximately 10 or more
years) with a variety of power generating equipment (steam
and gas) is highly preferred.
Must be certifiable to ASNT-TC-1A Level II or equivalent at
time of hire. (MT, PT and UT) (ET preferred)
Experience in Ultrasonic (UT) and with Eddy Current (ET)
preferred.
Strong math skills and proven ability to perform complex
mathematical calculations
Ability to work independently and with others under
stressful conditions
Must be willing in a non-temperature controlled environment
Must be willing to have the flexibility to change shifts as
workload requires, to include shift work
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to solve
complex problems
Ability to document and follow proper procedures and also
train others to do so
Ability to pass a pre-hire background check, drug screening
and physical exam required
Must be able to work in the US without assistance by Alstom
This is not a remote position; the candidate must be willing
to relocate to Richmond, VA.
