If you have experience developing and running an Inspection, Testing and Preventive Maintenance Program (ITPM) in an oil refinery or chemical processing plant and love to fish, hunt, snow machine or ski the back-country, you may be the ideal candidate to join Petro Star Valdez Refinery as the Mechanical Integrity Coordinator.

Overview:
Petro Star Valdez is the newest refinery in the United States with state of the art equipment, instrumentation and emission controls. The refinery processes 60,000 bpd of ANS crude and produces Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel, Commercial Jet Fuel, Military JP-8 and JP-5 Jet Fuel, Marine Diesel, Home Heating Oil, Turbine Fuel. Valdez, Alaska is a historic community of approximately 4,500 people located on the northwest side of Prince William Sound. This beautiful seaside, mountain community offers a small-town lifestyle with road access to larger cities such as Anchorage and Fairbanks. Valdez has a range of services including grocery and general shopping, restaurants, banking, healthcare, etc.

Position
Primary responsibility for developing, implementing and maintaining program to ensure the integrity of processes, equipment and systems within the refinery including: pumps, compressors, vessels, tanks, piping, safety systems and emergency systems. Coordinate ITPM program for all refinery equipment. Ensure mechanical integrity program is based on operational experience, relevant codes and regulations and industry best practices. Responsible for maintenance procedures and ensuring maintenance training and certifications are up to date. Manage Quality Assurance Program for design and engineering, procurement, fabrication, repair, installation, etc. Draft and review policies/procedures and collaborate with maintenance team to ensure correct implementation. Maintain thorough database of equipment inspections, testing and maintenance. Other duties include maintenance of waste management, treated water and fugitive/visible emissions programs as well as oversight of Contractor Management Program. Position reports to Plant Compliance Supervisor.

Education and Experience
Requires High School Diploma, or equivalent and minimum two (2) years higher education. Must have eight (8) years inspection experience with at least four (4) in a refinery or chemical plant. Requires working knowledge of codes, standards and practices for maintaining fixed, stationary and rotating equipment. Must have an in-depth understanding of OSHA PSM standards for Mechanical Integrity with hazardous chemicals. Know AutoCAD and use MS Office at intermediate level. Need working knowledge of NDE techniques; NDE Level 1 certification ideal. Requires strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff and management. Must have writing ability sufficient to draft clear, comprehensive policies and procedures. Knowledge of refinery processes, piping, tank farm, truck loading, pipeline(s) and utilities strongly preferred. Familiarity with API standards and certification in 510, 570 and 653 desired.

Pass occupational health, Hazmat and respirator physical with fit for duty release. Pre-employment drug test and participation in random DOT drug test program required. Requires valid Alaska driver’s license or ability to obtain if relocating. Must reside in Valdez area. NOT a rotational position.
