We are conducting a search for an experienced
Unit Inspector for one of the company's major West Coast refineries, located near Los Angeles. We are looking for someone who has previous in-plant experience working directly for a petroleum refining operating company.
In this role, you will plan & schedule unit inspections, make repair recommendations, and supervise contractors. Your overall responsibility will be to provide technical support to the Refinery Business Unit by the inspection of fixed equipment and piping to ensure overall mechanical integrity, refinery safety, and reliability.
Depending on the project, you will
either carry out yourself or delegate to contractors the following: Gathering equipment data and information in the field, performing visual inspections and non-destructive testing, and recording data and information to assure equipment histories are current.
You will also analyze inspection findings, develop recommendations, and prepare inspection reports, and perform basic calculations using corrosion data to determine inspection schedules and equipment/piping remaining life.
The inspection group in this refinery is regarded as an important, strategic part of the plant operations, not simply a required element. As such, the inspectors are well respected and are recognized for their contributions.
We are interested in hearing from you if you have the following background:
* A minimum of 5 total years of experience as a refinery inspector;
5-10+ years is preferable
* Your experience should include
at least 3 years of
in-plant experience working directly for an operating company
* API 510 certification (required)
* ASNT Level II in PT/MT/UT (required)
and one or more of the following certifications (by examination): API 570, API 653, NBIC, AWS-CWI, and ASNT Level II in RTI
