Overview:

The Engineering & Science Services and Skills Augmentation (ESSSA) contract provides engineering, scientist and engineering technician support to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. The Jacobs ESSSA Group is comprised of eight companies of Aerodyne, All Points Logistics, Bevilacqua, ERC, Jacobs, Lee and Associates, Qualis and Tuskegee. Responsibilities:

Provide general pressure system support to NASA customers, contractors, etc. and oversee certification efforts to completion working independently or within a team. Certification efforts include compliance to ASME, NBIC, API, DOT, and other National Consensus Standards where applicable.

Candidate will provide engineering support and guidance to National Consensus Standards in regards to propellant systems (cryogenic and ambient hydrogen/oxygen, storable liquids/gases, and solid propellants), ancillary support systems (inert gases such as nitrogen, air, and helium, hydraulics), and mechanical systems.

Coordinate with NASA project level customers across organizations to ensure mission success. Work with a large team of test engineers and other NASA customers to:

• Review test facility drawings and specifications.
• Perform pressure system walk-downs (inspections),
as required.
• Analyze pressure system components for system
rating and safety to National Consensus Standards
NCS).
• Perform capacity calculations on pressure systems
components.
• Write detailed reports pertaining to safe use and
operation of test facilities.
• Review test requirements.
• Coordinate with personnel in related tasks to
resolve technical problems.
• Support anomaly resolution.
• Prepare work requests to authorize fabrication,
installation, servicing, cleaning, and activation
of hardware for test support systems.
• Perform other duties, as required.
Skills:
BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D. from an ABET accredited institution, a minimum of a Masters with at least 2 years of experience, or BS with at least 6 years of experience.


Additional qualifications (preferred)
• Working knowledge of ASNT-TC-1A Level II NDE
Inspection; e.g., VT, UT, MT, PT, Radiographic
Examination (RT), & Acoustic Emission Testing (AE).
• In-depth knowledge of the hazards and required
precautions taken for solid propellants and
cryogenic liquids and gases (hydrogen, oxygen,
nitrogen, and helium).
• A general understanding and knowledge of the ASME
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and B31 Piping
codes for design, fabrication, activation, and
operation of tubing and piping systems.
• Ability to use design and analysis software to
verify ASME code compliance as applied to pressure
vessels; e.g., PVElite, COMPRESS.
