Start the new year off right working for TUV Rheinland in our Caledonia, Michigan office as an Sr API Inspector. This is an immediate need and we are looking for candidates who are either living in the Michigan area or ready to relocate quickly? The Sr API Inspector should be holding API 510, 570, and 653.

SUMMARY:

Experienced API inspector who can take the lead on projects and perform inspections. Five (5+) years as API preferred. Must be able to handle customer relations onsite with good attitude. May supervise up to 5-6 inspectors on job-site or perform inspection alone on smaller jobs. NDE level II certs a plus.


Skills:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspect and test welded joints of work in progress and of completed units for visible defects, correct dimensions, joint strength, bead formation, weld penetration, and conformance with layout, blueprint and work order specifications,

• Test and inspect work performed by construction contractors for compliance to contract specifications and drawings. Ensure client that its assemblies, materials and products meet quality standards.

• Record inspection and test data.

• Mark defective pieces and report findings per the client’s requirements.

• Monitor subordinate inspectors to ensure conformance to contract requirements.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities

• Ability to travel. Valid Driver’s license is required

• Must be able to work independently

• Ability to read and interpret drawings and documents such as codes, standards, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

• Knowledge of welding principles and metallurgical properties.

• Knowledge of Testing Methods, Inspection practices and procedures.

• Knowledge of AWS, ASME and other codes related to assignments.

Education

• High School/Vocational School Diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.

Experience

• 2 years related experience.

• Previous experience in inspection of structural welds primarily in structural steel beams, piping, buildings, bridges and miscellaneous steel components.

Certifications

• Level 2 in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

• Level 2 in at least 1 of the following: Radiography (RT), Ultrasonics (UT), Electromagnetic (ET) or a CWI.

• Construction work environment.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
