The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for a Process Containment Equipment Inspection Technologist
Position in Pittsburg, CA. This role ensures inspections and repairs to process containment equipment (pressure vessels,
tanks, and piping) comply with applicable standards and requirements so the site production equipment operates safety
and reliably. The Pittsburg, California site is located in East Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area. The
site, with over 350 employees, is a 24-hour/7-day operation including holidays. The site maintenance department is made
up of approximately 70 Dow employees and 125 contractor employees.


Key Job Responsibilities
* Determine inspection scopes based upon corrosion mechanisms and repair history. Provide direction and coaching
to ensure that contractor performed inspections, reports, and follow up actions comply with Dow expectations and standards.
Participate in monthly inspection review sessions with plant/equipment owners.
* In consultation with site materials engineer, set inspection intervals, perform fitness for service evaluations, and oversee
follow-up inspections on corroded equipment.
* Perform confined space, internal inspections including ultrasonic thickness readings on process containment equipment
in accordance with Dow standards and best industry practices. Generate reports and initiate communications that ensure
appropriate follow up actions take place. (this bullet point was moved from first to third)
* Coordinate with Dow subject matter experts, contract inspectors, repair shops, and plant personnel to ensure that
schedule driven repairs comply with Dow standards, best industry practices, and California jurisdictional requirements.
* Provide back-up support for other inspectors and materials engineer.
* As an expert in Dow work processes related to process
safety and mechanical integrity for process containment equipment, provide audit support, professional advice, and
direction as needed to ensure site compliance with Dow's Global Mechanical Integrity Safety Standard.

Skills:
Required Qualifications

* Must have at least one year of experience performing inspections and overseeing repairs of ASME pressure vessels and piping as an API certified inspector. Strongly prefer a candidate with 5 or more years of experience.

* Must be able to work in an empowered team environment, as well as work independently

* Must have either API 510 or API 653 or API 570 certification. Multiple certifications preferred.

* Must be able to wear all personal protective equipment

* Must be able to work in tight and confined spaces

* Must be able to work high off the ground

* Must be comfortable working with and learning new databases

* Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written

* Must have strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications
* The ideal candidate will hold ASNT level II certifications in UT (thickness)/PT/MT & VT

* 2 years of experience performing fitness for service evaluations per API RP 579

* National Board Commission for in service inspection of ASME pressure vessels

* Previous experience welding for industrial equipment repair and/or knowledge of testing methods

* Qualified Risk Based Inspection Certification

* AWS Certified Weld Inspector Certification

* Subject Matter Expert in GMIM Section 6 Risk Based Inspection requirements.

* Computer proficiency in Meridium Inspection management software and Microsoft products, including Word, Excel and Outlook

* Direction Received: Independently completes projects that require sustained effort when working outside of the natural work group/department. Networking with Global NDE and RBI technologists
* Key Contacts: Production Leaders, Maintenance Leaders, Reliability Engineers, Process Engineers, Corrosion Engineers, Fellow RBI SMEs, Fellow Certified Welding Inspectors/Welding inspection focal points. Dow Lead PCE Inspectors, Contract Lead PCE Inspectors, Contract Certified Welding Inspectors. Communicate daily with the Reliability Engineers and Process Engineers regarding inspection planning, inspection results and failure mechanisms. Communicate with the Process Leaders and Maintenance Leaders on an as needed basis to inform them of project progress and any unusual circumstances that may require their attention.
