Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Asset Integrity Engineer - Coordinator located in Midland, TX, through August 11. 2014 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Mid-Continent Business Unit (MCBU) maintains and operates 7 PSM facilities along with 1 non-PSM facilities in 7 states within the central United States. The Asset Integrity group is assigned the oversight of ensuring critical equipment is maintained and meets all safety and regulatory standards. The Asset Integrity Engineer / Coordinator reports within the Asset Integrity group of the Production Operations group. The Asset Integrity Engineer / Coordinator manages MCBU's Asset Integrity program related to inspection compliance and quality assurance of mechanical integrity.

Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


Demonstrate commitment to and exhibit behaviors commensurate with the continuous improvement of Health, Environment, and Safety performance in an Incident and Injury Free Operations. Ensure all NDT/X-ray contractors are capable of applying appropriate safe work practices, procedures, JSA’s, etc. while working on MCBU facilities. Lead in promoting the field and office safety observation program to ensure an IFO operation.

Develop risk based inspection strategy, which concentrates on inspection of stationary equipment that has the highest risk of failure and exposure to people and the environment.

Coordinate and develop each FMT’s annual inspection program, which primarily involves contractor NDT and/or X-ray of key fixed equipment that measures both internal and external corrosion. Develop and coordinate work schedule of contractor crews between FMT’s.

Engage Facility Engineers and key personnel from Operations on integrity issues. Evaluate inspection results using the appropriate method to determine suitability for continued service, and perform fitness for service evaluations as required. Work with Operations and Facility Engineer to determine final action, enter into CMMS, IDMS, and participate in the MOC process if MOC is required.

Ensure proper record keeping the Visions and CMMS databases.

Coordinate with the assigned Facility Engineer, develop recommended inspection and repair methods for equipment that does not meet minimum design requirements. Where requested, assist in determining root causes of stationary equipment failures and remedial actions.

Monitor and track inspection spend versus budget and provide updates.

Manage overdue tasks and discrepant material conditions using the Non-Conformance process.

Assures that technical support is provided to Asset Integrity Group, Facility Engineers and Operations. Coordinates the use of Engineering Technology Company staff experts and contract consultants when required. Focus is on day-to-day operations support to maintain base production so that business plan objectives are achieved with safety and reliability.

Assist in development of annual OPEX and CAPEX budget, contracting plans, and technology plan.

Required Qualifications:


A minimum of 5 years of related mechanical integrity experience in the Oil and Gas or chemical manufacturing facilities.

Demonstrated high level of expertise asset integrity management, planning and project execution and upstream construction/production facility operations. Working knowledge of Chevron Engineering Standards for facilities, regulatory policies, practices and codes. Working knowledge of design and construction codes (e.g., welding codes and inspection techniques, NDE methods, CES, SID, etc.). API certifications for the inspection of pressure vessels, piping and storage tanks. Knowledge and/or certification in Risk Based Inspection and Fitness for Service.

Strong experience in promoting activities that improve fixed equipment mechanical integrity and reduction of equipment failures due to corrosion/erosion.

Fixed equipment includes pressure vessels, pipelines, tanks, interconnecting piping, and structures, etc.
Experience in developing mechanical integrity maintenance programs.

Strong communication skills with the ability to maintain clear direction and work process with field operations and maintenance personnel in addition to communication with engineering and technical personnel.

Demonstrated track record of performing and supervising all work in a safe and environmentally protective manner. Understanding of OE principles. Must be able to coach performance, plan, and manage a team project portfolio, budget, metrics, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Current API certifications Inspection and Fitness for Service
