This critical role will provide leadership and hands-on support for two areas of the Quality department. 75% of this role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Sundyne’s NDT program and acting as the focal point for conducting NDT activities. 25% of this role will be responsible for executing the calibration program for all calibrated inspection gauges used in the manufacturing processes on site.
This is a hands-on position that requires close and effective working relationship with departments that include Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly & Test, Project Management, Project Engineering and with external customer inspectors. This is a day shift fulltime position, reporting directly to the Quality Manager.

Essential Responsibilities
• Focal point for performing NDT activities in support of production and customer paid inspections.
• Oversee all aspects of the Sundyne NDT program including maintenance of written practices, internal certification program and surveillance of subcontracted NDT.
• Lead or support calibration activities for inspection gages used in manufacturing.
• Complete all job-specific training necessary to meet productivity expectations.
• Complete all cross-training necessary to support Manager’s resource flexibility strategy for the Quality department.
• Complete all required training related to Health, Safety, Ethics, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Human Resources policies and procedures.
• Follow all policies and procedures related to Health, Safety, Ethics, Quality and Human Resources.
Essential Roles
• Responsible for performing PT, MT, PMI and Hardness Testing on castings, bar stock, machined components, and welds.
• May be required to review and interpret results of RT and UT performed by suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Achieve and maintain Level III ASNT certification in PT, MT and VT.
• Achieve and maintain Level II ASNT certification in RT and UT.
• Maintain Sundyne’s NDT written practices, procedures and records to latest industry specifications.
• Monitor changes and advancements in NDT practices, recommend changes and improvements to the Quality Manager, and lead implementation of approved changes to the NDT program.
• Maintain Sundyne’s internal NDT certification program including training curriculum, test materials and records of Level I and Level II NDT Technicians.
• Oversee the training, coaching and mentoring of Level I and Level II NDT Technicians.
• Complete calibration activities and maintain calibration database for all inspection gauges used in manufacturing.
• Actively participate, demonstrate and promote a culture of awareness, personal choice, peer support and continuous improvement relative to safety and quality.

Skills:
Required Experience and Skills
• Minimum of 10 years of NDT inspection experience in an industrial or aerospace manufacturing environment.
• ASNT Level II certification in PT and MT. Level III certification preferred.
• ASNT Level II certification in RT, VT and UT a plus.
• Must be able to present documentation of certifications per SNT-TC-1A required.
• Experience with Positive Material Identification (PMI) a plus.
• AWS CWI a plus.
• Experience in the calibration of inspection gages (calipers, micrometers, snap-gages, etc.) and familiarity using calibration management software.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, gauge blocks and other common inspection devices.
• Familiarity with a wide variety of metallurgies including stainless steels, carbon steels, aluminum and titanium preferred.
• Familiarity with a wide variety of manufacturing processes including casting, milling, turning, grinding and welding preferred.
• CMM experience preferred, experience with Zeiss Calypso CMM software a plus.
• Ability to work in a team setting.
• High attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills; able to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Written and verbal skills to communicate with other team members and internal / external customers.
• Ability to problem-solve and identify process improvement opportunities.
• Ability to lift or move up to 35 pounds.
• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• High school Diploma / GED required; Associates degree or higher is preferred.
