The Fitness for Service Engineer will perform pressure equipment damage assessments. Design, repair, and re-rate calculations, Fitness For Service evaluations per API 579 criteria. Mechanical Engineering support. Must be willing to travel 20%

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

• Expertise in developing finite element analysis (FEA) models using Solidworks/Simulation, to include linear and non-linear stress analysis, creep damage modeling, and fatigue screening and analysis.
• Expertise in conducting stress analysis, applying the ultimate stress, ultimate shear stress, and von Mises stress failure theories to shells, heads, junctions, nozzles, and other pressure equipment geometries exhibiting complex stress fields.
• Expertise in applying the features of Signal FFS software in assessing post-construction damage, to include general corrosion, local thinning, brittle fracture, crack-like flaws, and pitting.
• Self-directed, with proven ability to work complex, multidiscipline problems and deliver a technically correct and defensible engineering analysis that meets client demands on time and within the allocated budget.
• Proven ability to work as both a team member and leader on cross-functional teams comprising core and advanced NDT technicians, client engineering representatives and company management in solving highly technical engineering problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 15+ years of experience in pressure vessel, process piping and aboveground atmospheric storage tank design and post-construction Engineering Fitness for Service assessments.
• Engineering Management experience, including leading multidiscipline engineering teams in providing technical guidance, oversight and project deliverables.
• Experience base to include petrochemical, chemical, refining, pulp and paper, conventional power, pharmaceutical, food processing, pipeline, municipalities and government.
• Code experience to include ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and Div. 2, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 510, API 570, API 620, API 650, API 653.
• Assessment code experience to include API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, ASME B31.G, and National Board Inspection Code.
• Solid knowledge of both core and advanced NDT technologies, and their applications and limitations in conducting fixed equipment fitness for service damage assessments.
• BS degree in engineering, mathematics or pure science discipline. Masters degree or MBA a plus.
• Licensed Professional Engineer by examination in the State of Texas. No grandfathered PE licenses are acceptable.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

• Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
