CIMA Inspection is a Houston based inspection services
provider of conventional and advanced NDE services. CIMA
currently serves the greater Houston area, Permian Basin
and our newest location in Freeport, Texas.
CIMA Inspection is currently recruiting for a Radiation
Safety Officer (RSO) and NDE Coordinator position in our
Pasadena, Texas office. The position is a dual role and
has the potential to develop into the Operations Manager
of the Pasadena, Texas location for the right candidate.

The roles and responsibilities of the position are
defined below.
Radiation Safety Officer
Implement/Develop/As Needed (Initial Set Up)
•Develop, review, and implement a Radiation Safety
Program
•Possession, use, and storage of licensed materials are
consistent with the limitations in the license or
registration
•Individuals installing, relocating, maintaining, or
repairing equipment are qualified
•Ensure users are properly trained and supervised
•Ensure all individuals using the equipment have been
properly trained and authorized to use that equipment
•Ensure individuals are authorized to use the material
before access is granted
•Ensure the proper operating and emergency and ALARA
procedures have been developed and are available to all
users
•Ensuring that systems are protected from unauthorized
removal
•Ensure all license conditions are met
•Ensure proper posting of the Notice to employees and all
other information accordingly
•Serve as a contact with the departments for events such
as loss, theft or damage of radioactive material
•Ensure that all users understand the company's 0 & E and
ALARA procedures
•Review and approve new equipment or users
•Complete NSTS requirements
•Investigate accidents
•Inform corporate/management or consultant of incidents &
work to resolve problem
•The record system will be audited by several agencies
and should be well organized and easy to understand
•Ensure proper shipment of radioactive material
(receiving and disposal)
•Ensure a well maintained filing system is in place
•Ensure storage of radiation files are accurate and easy
to locate
•Ensure license amendments are maintained and submitted
in a timely fashion
•Ensure email or fax correspondence with shipping and
receiving
•Stop licensed activities that you the RSO considers
unsafe
•Ensure current regulations are available and reviewed
with users
Annually
•Review ALARA program annually
•Ensure that monitoring equipment is properly calibrated
and maintained
•Operating the dosimetry program and records
•Maintain inventory of all material
•Ensure that accurate records are being kept of the use
of the sources and equipment
•Ensure users year to date badge readings are recorded
and monitored
•Maintain individual personnel files
•Maintain all records
•Maintain license and reciprocity files ( inform
individual when fees are due or license are expiring)
•Maintain transportation boxes and vehicles to company
standards
•Maintain license and certifications for contractors (
Fed x, consultants, calibration personnel, leak test
company and etc.)
•Ensuring employees are trained and that the training is
kept current and records of this training are made
available as required
•Ensure that a facility is operating in accordance with
the rules and regulations and that all employees
understand these rules and regulations.
Quarterly
•Track the radioactive material from the cradle to the
grave
•Ensure that required leak test and du test are performed
•Ensure vehicles transporting radioactive material are
kept up as far as mechanically, security and have the
correct information on the outside and the correct
information is maintained in the manual
•Perform quarterly inspections of the equipment, facility
and vehicles
•Ensure all individuals are audited on their performance
at intervals not to exceed 6 Months
Daily
•Follow the rules of your state as well as the NRC
•Ensuring that all rules, regulations and procedures for
the safe use of radioactive material and x-ray systems
are observed
•Ensure the required radiation surveys are being
performed and that all individuals know how to properly
perform these surveys
•Ensure that individuals have available and wear the
proper personnel monitoring equipment
•Ensure radiation exposure is maintained to ALARA
•Monitor all places where radioactive materials are used
•Ensure individuals are paired up properly
•Be informed of upcoming work schedules and conflicts
•Ensure equipment is available and ready to use at all
times
•Review survey sheets and dosimeter reports on a weekly
basis, if there are any discrepancies get them correctly
ASAP
•Maintain utilization logs
•Ensure devices are being properly stored
NDE Coordinator
•Works directly and independently with clients and NDE
staff in the development and modification of scheduling
resources and accommodations
•Acts as primary point of contact and liaison with
clients and employees on a range of complex scheduling,
operational and administrative issues
•Assists in project planning, development, implementation
and control to ensure efficiency in meeting the needs of
the organization
•Establishes and implements workflow patterns and
operating standards to accommodate client scheduling
requirements and requests
•Participate in strategic organizational planning and
managerial decision making
•Oversees the planning, organization and control of NDE
staffing levels and patterns
•Coordinates and schedules safety and technical training
at related facilities to achieve optimum usage efficiency
•Prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly manpower
utilization reports per employee and class of employees
•Coordinates maintenance and repair of equipment and
vehicles for the company
•Ensures/Maintains consumable and equipment as required
and orders when necessary
•Serves as liaison between client, employee and the
Operation Manager
•Ensures Master Job files are maintained and accurate
•Ensure employees receive the proper documentation prior
to traveling to a work site
•Coordinates and approves employee data entry related to
timesheets, client timesheets and billing sheets
•Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Skills:
•A High School Diploma is required as a minimum.
•Radiation Safety Officer (RSOs) must have training and
specific experience with the types and quantities of
licensed material to be authorized on the license.
•He or she must have sufficient time and commitment from
management to fulfill certain duties and responsibilities
to ensure that radioactive materials are possessed and
used in a safe manner.
•RSOs needs to be educated to handle curie quantities of
radioactive material
•40 hours of radiation safety training
•Must have previous supervisory experience and be able
to deal with diverse work groups and possess group
facilitation skills, the ability to solve problems, and
be able to work with minimal supervision.
•Must be a certified Radiographer
•Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
•One Year of experience with similar types, forms,
quantities, and uses of radioactive material.
•Must be willing to perform radiography at job sites as
needed.

Ultimately, the proposed RSO's training and experience
should be sufficient to identify and control the
anticipated radiation hazards. In addition, the RSO
designee should have obtained the above training in a
formal course designed for RSOs presented by an academic
institution, commercial radiation safety consulting
company, or professional organization of radiation
protection experts.
