Position Summary:
Under the direction of supervision of an employee in a higher classification, this position performs all laboratory and field assignments, calibrations, and investigations of a difficult nature on a wide variety of materials and equipment. Performs other investigative work as directed. Prepares reports on results of investigations. May be required to perform inspections, examinations and tests in the field without direct supervision and may direct the work of other employees.

While work location is in San Ramon, travel required will be approximately 75%.

Responsibilities:
•Performs inspections and conducts manual as well as automated nondestructive tests (including report preparation) on power plant, gas transmission, and substation components, parts and structures related to electric power generation and gas and electric distribution and transmission.
•Assists in development of NDE procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to laboratory work, design and fabrication of tooling, fixtures, and delivery systems for NDE systems, and maintenance and repair of NDE equipment.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
•Associate degree or equivalent including courses/training meeting ANSI/ASNT CP-189 hours for certification in at least 3 NDE methods (Ultrasonic Testing, Radiography Testing, Penetrant Testing, Visual Testing/Remote Video Testing, CWI/NDE Project Leadership or Magnetic Particle Testing)
•Level II certification in at least UT and RT, PT or MT. VT is a highly desired certification for this Role.
•Minimum of 3 years experience working as a certified Level II VT Technician/CWI performing weld inspection, Analysis/Report completion, Project Management-Team leadership. Proven Customer engagement, professional performance/completion, networking and relationship that build ongoing work.

Desired:
•Strong Documentation of Project Completion, Performance and customer satisfaction.
•Current AWS CWI certification
•ASNT ACCP certification
•Machine/mechanical tool background or experience
•Strong Reporting Skills-Solid Computer/Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook
•Knowledge with automated and manual VT systems-Push/Manual and Crawlers.
•Knowledge of computerized radiography techniques and use of equipment/Film Interpretation. CRI-is highly desired.
•Familiarly with working in plants and radiological areas
•Willingness to work overtime to support plant outages and field work
