NDE Level 3 Examiner - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH

Full time NDE quality engineering technical specialist for manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities include:

•To evaluate non-destructive examination requirements and specifications imposed by the customer for technical adequacy.
•To develop specialized NDE techniques for special applications
•To prepare detailed procedures for use by NDE production personnel.
•To support, lead, and provide direction to assure compliance in all NDE activity within our shop and material at our vendors
•Evaluate new non-destructive examination requirements imposed by the customer and determine their effectiveness to fulfill the intended requirements. Defines research programs or otherwise develop the capabilities necessary to fulfill the customer's requirements.
•Evaluate NDE procedures submitted by material supplier for technical adequacy and compliance with contract requirements.
•Own, review and revise NDE procedures.
•Traveling to material vendors to support NDE source inspection.
•Perform liaison with Engineering to establish inspection capabilities for flaw detection and the maximum permissible flaw size and orientation that can be tolerated in the analysis.
•Assist production personnel in NDE in solving production non-destructive examination problems with primary emphasis on special technology and new techniques.
•Perform liaison with QA Engineering and Manufacturing personnel for implementation of required tests and assists in resolving technical problems. Represent the company at meetings on NDE.
•Represent the company during contract negotiations and technical discussions with customers concerning NDE capabilities, reliability and technical problems.
•Assists in training other NDE personnel as required.
•Able to perform NDE inspections using one or more of the following NDE disciplines, RT, MT, PT, UT, VT, and ET.
•Provide oversight and surveillance of shop floor personnel concerning NDE compliance.
•Maintain NDE certification program for the facility.
•Provide NDE training as needed for the facility.
•Maintain training program materials.
•Suspend shop floor personnel certifications as needed.
• Evaluate NDE compliance metrics and take action as necessary to mitigate and eliminate noncompliant activity.




Skills:
Job Qualifications / Requirements:

•Minimum two year associate degree in technical field or relevant equivalent work experience of 12 years.
•Prior knowledge of NDE Engineering with an emphasis on MT/PT/VT is a must.
•Strong preference for candidates with NDE Level III certifications in MT, PT, VT.
•Candidate must be able to obtain Examiner status in MT/PT/VT within the first year of employment.
•Must be able to obtain DOE Confidential clearance and maintain. Must be a US citizen (no dual citizenship)
