MISTRAS Group, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Inspector in Long Beach, CA.

Responsibilities:

•Shall discuss and review applicable Project Electrical Engineering Standards and required forms and exhibits with the Contractor’s supervision.
•Shall review inspection hold points, which are issued along with the Electrical Standards that require the Electrical Inspector to observe each level of installation of electrical work.
•Will meet with the Electrical Construction Coordinator and the Electrical Contractor to establish a means of communication and obtain a mutual understanding on roles and responsibilities.
•Shall review project construction, single line, hazardous area classification (HAC), and National Fire Protection (NFPA) drawings for package completeness and establish requirements for compliance to the site specific LARIC Standards of the Los Angeles Refinery and the National Electric Code.
•Will maintain an open communication relationship with the Electrical Engineer and Electrical Construction Coordinator in order to discuss and resolve inspection queries.
•Shall perform continuous inspection of the construction as the job progresses.
•Shall submit weekly reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
•Shall review the Contractor’s electrical packages and check for project drawing revision changes, required inspection forms, and requests for information memos on a regular basis.
•Shall monitor material, lighting fixtures, electrical devices and equipment installations of electric systems to verify all said items are third party labeled by UL, FM, ETL, City of LA or other approved third party certification approved by the site AHJ of either the County of LA or City of LA. The third party certification label shall be suitable for installation inside the hazardous classification for the area it is being installed (Class, Division, Group, and T-Code) and as called out by the construction drawings.
•The Electrical Inspector shall sign off electrical packages as mechanically complete and ready to energize for functional testing and again upon 100% completion of the electrical systems as ready to sell to the maintenance shop.
•Shall review all new installations that require maintenance or operator routine tasks (control panels, gauges, meters,) for adequate lighting levels (compliance with LAR standards GP12-01-1)
•Shall inspect electrical equipment brought into the Los Angeles refinery by the construction contractor for NEC compliance, system integrity and suitability for electrical energization ( for example, portable generators, weld packs, walk in or occupied trailers, skid mounted process trailers and electrical stress relieving equipment).

•The Electrical Inspector shall write NCRs for electrical installations that fail to meet Standards or the National Electric Code.

Requirements:
•ICC certified
•Working knowledge of Hazardous locations as described in the National Electrical Code, and be qualified to the satisfaction of the Project Quality Assurance Manager. Current and Valid California Driver’s License
•HS Diploma or GED
•Current and Valid California Driver’s License
