Our Albany Operations is currently seeking Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technicians to join our team on the rotational night shift. We are looking to fill multiple positions. Primary Responsibilities

The NDT Technician will utilize expertise in non-destructive testing to assure compliance with quality requirements of the company and customers. Be accountable for working safely by following all safety rules and safe work practices. Establish techniques to meet customer specifications. Calibrate equipment and inspect radiographic equipment. May be required to work outside the department, train others, or complete other duties as assigned.

Specifically, the RT Level I will be responsible for producing x-rays of castings per specifications and document findings.

•Shoot x-rays of castings per tech card specifications and accurately document results of all x-ray systems.
•Prepare and clean up machines, equipment, work area, etc. required to perform tasks that support this position.
•Able to perform minor adjustments within specification limits.

Specifically, the RT Level II will interpret radiographic film and document results in accordance with established technique cards, develop shooting techniques as required, calibrate equipment, and train Level I radiographers as needed.

•Set up non-destructive testing using radiographic film to determine casting quality and pinpoint correction needed to discrepancies in parts.
•Obtain instructions for radiographing castings through technique cards.
•Evaluate each image to ensure uniform accuracy and image quality.
•Visually inspect each casting to identify areas that require improvements in casting or welding.
•Find areas of frequently occurring imperfections and consult engineering or other necessary departments.
•Endorse radiographic reports authorizing complete and accurate inspections have been performed and findings documented.

Job Conditions

•Must be willing to work 12 hour rotational night shifts
•Overtime and weekend work may be required.
•Relocation assistance may be available for those who must travel more than 50 miles to the work location.

Qualifications

NDT Technicians of all skill levels:

•Must be familiar with the scope and limitation of the method in which certified.
•High school diploma or GED.
•Must be able to calibrate and document all x-ray working systems.
•Must have ability to maintain high quality ratings while also processing parts at an acceptable production speed.
•Must be capable of understanding all associated documentation and part routing procedures.
•Demonstrated ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
•Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently shoot large castings without supervision.
•Must have vision acuity which meets Jaeger #1 test chart at not less than 12 inches, or equivalent with one eye, either natural or corrected. Also color perception to distinguish and differentiate between the colors used in the method for this certification.
•Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds using both hands and move equipment and parts in a variety of positions. Position requires extensive walking and standing.

In addition to the above qualifications, higher levels can be obtained based on skill and experience. Qualifications for each level include:

Beginning RT Level I:

•Within 6 months of hire, must be able to successfully complete an in-house certification test and be certified for RT Level I; including successfully completing 40 hours of formal classroom training, per the certification requirements.
•Demonstrated ability to develop simple radiography techniques with the supervision and guidance of more experienced peers.

Experienced RT Level I:

•Must be previously certified for Level I.
•Must be able to successfully complete an in-house certification test and be certified for RT Level I; including successfully completing 40 hours of formal classroom training, per the certification requirements.
•Demonstrated ability to develop simple radiograph techniques without assistance.

RT Level II:

•Must have either 1) previous experience as a Level II in RT with documentation of classroom training, or 2) must be able to successfully complete an in-house certification test and be certified for RT Level II; including successfully completing 80 hours in Radiographic Inspection I and II.
•Prefer experienced radiographer or experienced in technique development.
•Visual Inspection experience is a plus.
