Pratt & Whitney’s solid rocket motor division, located in the foothills of south San Jose, is currently looking for a NDE Engineer.

The successful candidate will perform complex engineering support for the development and application of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods, techniques and equipment for conducting tests on new or existing parts and materials for solid rocket motors and related hardware. Directs and assists NDE procedure preparation, test performance and evaluation of results. Supports NDE facilities and equipment operation, maintenance and environmental requirements. Applies industry standards and internal policies, procedures and practices to solve a wide range of difficult problems. May provide work direction to lower level personnel.

Our NDE department supports production and R&D with High and Low Energy X-Ray, High-Energy Computed Tomography, Automated Ultrasonic Inspections, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant inspections on solid rocket motors and related hardware.

Prerequisites:
The position requires the candidate be certifiable to Level III in Radiography and Ultrasonics. Must be able to produce documentation of NDT training, schooling, experience and radiation exposure history.

Additional certifications/certifiable to Level III Magnetic Particle, Eddy-Current, and Liquid Penetrant, and experience with NDT aerospace components and solid rocket motors preferred.

Shift work and/or travel may be required.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
