Essential Job Functions

1. Must understand: SMAW, SAW, FCAW, GMAW, Mechanical cutting, Thermal cutting, Brazing, Soldering.
2. Involved in design (preparation of plans and drawings for weldments) and examination (detection and measurement of weld discontinuities and verification of fabrication requirements).
3. Assure that all fabrication and welding is performed in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
4. Inspect welds and record the type of inspection and piece marking of piece inspected.
5. Assist in sequencing of welds and/or heat to minimize distortion.
6. Monitor processes to assure that written procedures are followed.
7. Assist and help train welding inspector.
8. This person shall have the authority to stop work on any project where quality is questionable.
9. Perform other duties as required by management.

Qualifications and requirements

Required: High school education or equivalent. Two more years experience in an occupational function that has a direct relationship to welded assemblies fabricated to national or international standards. Two years experience may be substituted for post-high school training such as associate or higher degree (i.e. in engineering technology, engineering, or physical sciences).

Preferred: High school education or equivalent with training in using a computer system. Two or more years experience in all aspects of manufacturing in the steel fabrication industry.
Skills:
Quality Control Inspectors with AWS CWI certification and experience in structural steel fabrication are needed for 2nd shift operations.

Quality Control Inspectors with current or previous certification and experience as NDE Level II in UT or MT are preferred.
