The Power Transmission System's (PTS) division of UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) is located in the heart of Rome, NY. Rome is delightfully situated in Central New York between the historic cities of Albany and Syracuse, and conveniently located an hour south of the stunning Adirondack Mountains.

Our PTS business is home to the production of drive shafts and couplings units for our many Aerospace and Industrial customers. Our division currently has an opening for a 2nd shift Non-destructive Testing (NDT) Technician.

Responsibilities will Include:

-Obtains necessary stock, fixtures, tooling and gauging

-Performs all specialized inspection techniques including:

NDT duties:
Ultrasonics Level II
Mag Particle/Penetrant Level II
Hardness Testing
Radiographic Testing Level II
Has obtained certifications for appropriate level of inspection and maintained them
Performs audit function in support of operator certification
Trains new employees and Level I Operators for Level II status
Maintains compliance of inspection equipment
Performs computer transactions
Moves parts to, from, within module
Cleans inspection equipment
General housekeeping

Education/Special Notes:

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably technical school background, and demonstration of basic educational competencies (reading, writing)
Due to federal regulation or contracting requirements, this position is only available to U.S. citizens.
Nothing matters more to UTC Aerospace Systems than our strong ethical and safety commitments. As such, all U.S. positions require a background check, which will may include a drug screen.
Skills:
Blueprint and routing reading and comprehension
Competent with hand tools and experienced with measurement equipment
Basic computer skills such as log on, data entry and retrieval
Obtain certifications and qualifications required to perform job
The successful candidate will be required to train on 1st shift ; permanent shift will be 2nd
Proof of Prior Certifications and Formal Training to Level 2 inspector status is required
