Paragon NDT is seeking a qualified, full time Non-Destructive Testing Technician (NDT) at Level II in the Des Moines, IA area. The purpose of this role is to use new non-destructive testing (NDT) methods to interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicant codes, standards, specifications, or procedures. This position includes the following specific essential functions:
1. Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance
with applicable codes, standards, specifications,
or procedures.
2. Interpret the results of all methods of non-
destructive testing (NDT) such as
electromagnetic, leak, liquid penetrant, magnetic
particle, radiographic, thermal or infrared,
ultrasonic, vibration analysis, and visual
testing.
3. Interpret design or operational test results.
4. Select, calibrate, or operate equipment used in
the non-destructive testing (NDT) of products or
materials.
5. Select tools, equipment, or technologies for use
in operations or projects.
6. Identify defects in solid materials using
ultrasonic testing techniques.
7. Test characteristics of materials or structures.
8. Prepare reports on non-destructive testing (NDT)
results.
9. Document design or operational test results.
10. Conduct liquid penetrant tests to locate surface
cracks by coating objects with fluorescent dyes,
cleaning excess penetrant, and applying
developer.
11. Document non-destructive testing (NDT) methods,
processes, or results.
12. Document design or operational test results.
13. Produce images of objects on film using
radiographic techniques.
14. Visually examine materials, structures, or
components using tools and equipment such as
endoscopes, closed circuit television systems,
and fiber optics for signs of corrosion, metal
fatigue, cracks, or other flaws.
15. Inspect finished products to locate flaws.
16. Identify defects in concrete or other building
materials, using thermal or infrared testing.
17. Measure physical or chemical properties of
materials or objects.
18. Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
This individual should have the following qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates
degree is non-destructive testing technology
preferred; or certification earned through the
American Society for Nondestructive Testing
2. Understands the application of the tools at hand
to maximize the efficiency and quality of
inspections.
3. Level II certification in Ultrasonics, liquid
Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspections is
preferred.
4. Speaks and writes clearly and informatively;
Responds well to questions; Practices active
listening.
5. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
