Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) tasks typical of a certified NAS 410, Level 2 in a manufacturing environment on aircraft parts and assemblies using various Ultrasonic and Radiographic conventional and automated systems. Other NDT methods may also include: Eddy Current Testing and Leak Detection.
This role may be assigned to 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift, based on the business needs. We currently train all new NDT technicians on 1st shift and the majority of the team stays on 1st shift.
What You’ll Do:
• Perform NDT on aircraft parts (Composite & Metallic) in accordance with test procedures and customer process specifications. Interpreter NDT test data, verify product conformance and document test results.
• Operate test equipment; such as: Automated C-scan, Static and Robotic X-ray, Computed Radiography, A-scan, Resonance and possibly Eddy Current, Phased Array UT and Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Detection equipment.
• Interface with engineers and manufacturing personnel to improve processes and provide test results.
• Train and provide guidance to GKN NDT Technician I's and NDT Technician II's.
Skills:
Required Qualifications:
• Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in NDT, or a closely related curriculum with an NDT Certificate of Completion, is required. As a minimum, a candidate must meet the education requirements for an NAS-410 Level 2, in Ultrasonics and Radiography.
• 1 or more years previous NDT work experience is required.
• Must be able to achieve and maintain NAS 410 Level 2 Certification.
• U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of experience in NDT of Composite aircraft parts for manufactured flaw evaluation is desired.
• Must have strong Problem Solving skills.
• Employee must have knowledge of conventional and automated testing systems and understand NDT theory and computer systems.
• Emp. must have good written and verbal communications skills, and be able to work independently and work effectively as a team member.
• Experience in Eddy Current, or other test methods, is desired.
• Occasionally lift or carry 35 lbs
• May be exposed to warm temperatures and exposed to occasional loud noise of a shop environment
• May be required to stand or walk for extended periods of time
• May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch.
• May be required to use stairs
