SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the Quality Program by performing a combination of related tasks in conformance with Program Manager for Chemical Demilitarization (PMCD), National Consensus Quality Standards, and internal (EG&G) and external (Government) standards. Responsible for all inspections, tests, surveillance and quality operations support. Inspections, tests, and surveillances require entries into the chemical exclusion areas.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in a chemical plant in proximity to toxic chemical munitions. May enter areas containing toxic chemicals or chemical munitions for the purposes of inspection, test, and/or surveillance. May be required to work using and/or wearing protective equipment. The individual and supervisor assure that the degree of risk is reduced to the lowest level. Must be able to acknowledge and respond to flashing lights and sirens and be able to don a protective mask and evacuate up to 2 miles in an expeditious manner. Required to work a schedule of rotating eight, or twelve hour (nominally) shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Performs hazardous waste management duties and/or worker duties in EPA permitted or regulated facilities. Duties may involve one or more of the following: management, coordination, engineering, or technical work involving hazardous waste management programs or projects; or movement, containerization, storage, identification, record keeping, emergency response, treatment, and/or disposition of hazardous waste. Such duties require the ability to interpret and implement environmental regulations; knowledge of hazardous waste products and safety regulations; and the skills to effect regulatory requirements and ensure proper management and/or handling of hazardous wastes.

Skills:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Incumbent must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent + 6 years relevant experience, 4 of which must be in inspecting and testing (specialized education or Vo-Tech training, military, or apprenticeship may substitute for experience). In addition, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate good technical knowledge of plant and system processes. The incumbent must possess knowledge of functional systems interactions and must be able to pay attention to critical elements in a complex and regulated environment. Incumbent must be NDE level II certifiable in visual, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and leak testing.
