The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC),
Region III office, located just 30 miles west of Chicago,
Illinois, has an immediate opening for a Reactor
Engineer (Inservice Inspection), GG-13, in the
Mechanical Engineering Branch.

The NRC is charged with ensuring the safe civilian use
and disposal of nuclear energy, materials, and waste
through programs of regulation, inspection and
enforcement.
Skills:
We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor's or
advanced degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical,
Materials or other appropriate engineering discipline,
supplemented by at least 3 to 5 years of recent
experience working in the area of nuclear
energy/materials. Recent experience involving nuclear
facility inservice inspection programs and
nondestructive examination of components is
particularly desirable for this position. Best qualified
candidates will have demonstrated recent work
experience in mechanical engineering in a nuclear
work environment, as well as excellent oral and written
communications skills. Other requirements include
U.S. citizenship, pre-hire and random post-hire drug
testing and successful completion of pre-hire
background investigation related to security clearance.
Frequent travel (up to 35 percent) is required.
