Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Quality Technician (NDT Supervisor) who leads the NDT Team in all areas of ultrasonic tests conducted on fabricated composite parts (laminate & sandwich construction) and products to identify discontinuities.

Job Accountabilities:

Supervises the NDT Team on ultrasonic testing
Defines the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for the NDT Team
Interpret results and generate reports on findings with detailed technical information.
Provides NDT expertise and training for all NDT Technicians
Conducts training for Level II technicians per NAS410 requirements.
Reviews any questionable reports provided by Level II technicians for approval.
Reviews and approves technique sheets before releasing for NDI.
Create technique sheets for customer approval.
Support multiple ACS sites for NDT Level III process approvals
Reviews customer specifications and drawings and prepares NDT procedures for customer review and approval.
Reviews internal work orders, test procedure sheets, and product acceptance criteria to determine test specifications.
Attaches specified crystal transducer to the ultrasound test device and moves the switch to actuate the device.
Calibrates and adjusts ultrasonic test equipment to required standards and settings, applying knowledge of ultrasonic testing procedures.
Sprays couplet (light oil which acts as a medium) or other liquid over the part to be tested, moves the transducer over the part to be tested and observes CRT (cathode ray tube) screen to detect patterns of discontinuity, such as cracks, inclusions, bonding defects, or porosity.
Marks defective areas of part or product and prepares a report of test findings.
Sets up and operates computerized inspection equipment.
Manages staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
Other responsibilities as assigned

Education: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Assurance or a High School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of relevant experience and appropriate certifications.

Experience: Four (4) years experience in composite UT-NDI Testing, assigned as Responsible Level III, Technical NDT UT Level III

Licensure/Certification: Ultrasonic Inspector Level III Certificate, ASNT / NAS410 Certified (Note: must submit copies of current certification)
