As a Public Outreach Team member, you will:

* Work with Public Outreach Team members to ensure a consistent, strategic, and proactive approach to project outreach and communications.
* Provide outreach guidance and best practices implementation to Project Teams across our customer's utility.
* Contribute to creating and delivering the Public Outreach annual accomplishments and strategic plans.
* Use best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve Outreach processes and services to clients.
* Work collaboratively with teams across multiple departments to achieve maximum results from Public Outreach efforts.

As a Public Outreach Specialist in Projects, you will:

* Develop and implement customer-focused strategic outreach plans for all projects that incorporate our customer-utility's "Community in Mind" philosophy.
* Provide full-service outreach activities to all projects within the Projects organization.
* Develop and sustain relationships with key municipalities to aid in the resolution of conflicts.
* Develop and direct strategy and process for interacting with local and state entities.
* Regularly meet with municipal code enforcement officers to discuss upcoming projects in their towns.
* Develop and implement common strategies, processes and procedures of outreach and communications processes for stakeholders including customers and abutters.
* Proactively work with residential and commercial customers, advising of upcoming work, applying strategic tactics to ease the burden of construction.
* Work with project teams regarding writing and editing standardized project-related outreach materials.
* Coordinate and host public meetings and open houses.
* Provide notification of upcoming projects to project neighbors and abutters; negotiate solutions to problems such as lost parking spots, loss of business, noise complaints, etc.
* Develop and maintain tracking mechanisms for Outreach such as customer and stakeholder lists, customer and stakeholder management plans, and Outreach logs.
* Respond to urgent public relations issues on projects, bringing in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs when necessary.
* Implement and maintain phone hotlines for critical projects and outreach inquiries.
* Work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, municipal leaders, customers, and others in the communities served by the utility.
* Perform other necessary duties as assigned by the Public Outreach Manager-Projects.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
