Experienced Radiation Safety Officer needed in the Houston Texas area. A minimum of 5 years experience as a radiographer is required. Duties:
• Responsible for the management and safety of all radiographic operations in Texas
• Maintains our Radiation Safety Program and ensures we’re in compliance with Texas and Federal Regulations.
• Creates and maintains an organizational system of filing system on all pertinent radiographic requirements.
• Emphasize the ALARA philosophy in all training of radiographic personnel.
• Reviews current procedures and proposes changes to reduce exposure levels when warranted.
• Conduct weekly reviews of pocket dosimeter reports and monthly reviews of optically stimulated luminescent reports for all radiographic personnel.
• Investigate any case involving over-exposure and initiate immediate corrective action and reporting requirements.
• Conducts investigations and implements corrective measures and reports the events required by our RSP and the State of Texas.
• Conduct a formal ALARA audit annually of the company’s radiation safety program.
• Conduct quarterly inspections on radiographic exposure devices and associated equipment.
• Conduct quarterly inventories of exposure devices and all alarms.
• Conduct quarterly surveys of the storage vault.
• Maintain current leak test on sources and exposure devices.
• Conduct field radiation safety performance and quality audits on each radiographic personnel not to exceed six months.
• Conducts annual source reconciliation with the NSTS.
• Conducts annual refresher training for all radiographic personnel.
• Maintains equipment calibrations.
• Abides by company policies and procedures.
• Maintain Turner’s safety culture and work as a TEAM partner.

Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent, technical school or college preferred.
• Source Retrieval Training.
• Inspection and Maintenance of Industrial Radiographic Equipment
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a radiographer or equivalent.
• Familiar with the Administration of Radiographic Safety Program.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and communicate with supervision and workers.
• Ability to prioritize and complete audits and work assignments by specific deadlines.
• Ability to follow precise directions and procedures from TSS’s management and from the client.
• Ability to lead and influence.

Goals:
• Reduce occupational exposure of all radiographic personnel by utilizing ALARA principles.
• Maintain compliance of our Radiation Safety Program with no findings by the State of Texas.
• Pursue additional certifications such as API 510, 570 or 653 or advanced NDE methods.
• Complete all work successfully without incidents.
• Reproduce/influence key personnel over the next twelve months.
• Continue to cultivate and maintain a safe radiation culture with zero incidents.
