This role offers advanced, specialized expertise and is responsible for delivering technical guidance, procedural direction, project input, and resource recommendations to ensure the successful execution of specialized technical services. The Advanced NDE Technician & Technical Advisor provides expert-level execution and technical support in the application of advanced non-destructive examination (NDE) methods on pipeline systems. This dual-role position includes hands-on inspection using advanced technologies as well as technical advising for inspection, data interpretation, reporting, training, and strategic planning for client requests and technologies. This role will also support Business Development activities to include client meetings/presentations. The role ensures safe, compliant, and effective inspection practices in support of pipeline integrity management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform advanced NDE on pipeline components, including automated ultrasonic testing (AUT) and phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), as required by customer in accordance with customer / TIR NDE written procedures.
Ensure correct calibration, configuration, and use of advanced NDE equipment in field settings.
Act as a technical resource for field teams and integrity engineers regarding advanced NDE practices and interpretation.
Document all inspections on the appropriate NDE reports and review prior to submitting them to TIR’s Quality Assurance team.
Assist with client meetings and/or strategy discussions pertaining to projects and the use of technologies.
Lead and coordinate NDE crews in the field, ensuring efficient workflow, safety compliance, and adherence to inspection schedules for assigned projects.
Provide training to NDE technicians as required by NDE division management.
Maintain continual communication, for assigned projects, with client representatives including, but not limited to, chief inspector, site inspector, integrity engineers, etc.
Perform other job duties and related tasks as assigned by management.
Conduct Field audits when required.
Ensure all project data, reports, documentation, etc. are completed timely and accurately.
Ensure all activities are performed in a safe and professional manner. Adhere to and enforce TIR safety policies.
Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum ASNT Level II certification in UT and MT. Valid NDE Level II or III certifications in advanced methods such as PAUT, AUT and/or TOFD.
7+ years of field experience in NDE, including a minimum of 3 years in advanced pipeline inspection applications (i.e. Mechanical Integrity)
Proven experience working on live pipeline systems, facility piping, and pipeline integrity dig programs.
Knowledge of Mechanical Integrity programs and associated codes/standards (API 510, 570, 653, ASME B31.3, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work confidently with multiple computer software programs. (Excel, Office)
Ability to recognize and report safety hazards
