Summary: As an HSE Field Technician, you will be responsible for supporting field operations by ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. This includes responding to employee concerns, conducting audits, investigating incidents, facilitating safety training, and providing administrative support to field personnel. The role is both hands-on and consultative, requiring regular interaction with field crews and management.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Lead and participate in toolbox and safety meetings; communicate bulletins and key safety messages.
Prepare and deliver HSE training on various safety topics.
Maintain and update employee HSE records, including incident reports and training files.
Investigate and support resolution of incidents, accidents, near misses, and good catches. See, Say, Stop
Review and support development of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and ensure they are effectively implemented.
Track and follow through on action items, concerns, and corrective measures.
Represent ATS at contractor safety meetings and build relationships with external safety stakeholders.
Coach, mentor, and conduct safety evaluations of field personnel.
Perform facility inspections and evaluations to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Support incident notification processes to internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate site evacuations and participate in post-event critiques.
Assist with policy development, implementation, and cascading of safety procedures and best practices.
Support management in tracking remedial actions to prevent recurrence of safety incidents.
Stay up to date with OSHA, PSM, and other applicable HSE regulations and standards.
Act as a liaison between field crews and safety management, helping operations fulfill their HSE responsibilities.
Provide direction and supervision to other HSE team members, as required.
Regularly accompany field crews to better understand job site hazards and conditions.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of industry experience, preferably in heavy industrial or NDE environments.
Academic or practical background in Safety and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is highly desirable.
Certification in safety (e.g., CHST, STS, OSHA 30, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
Previous experience in a lead technician or supervisory safety role is an asset.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, including Process Safety Management (PSM).
Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
Self-starter able to work independently, but also function effectively in a team.
Service-oriented mindset with a strong focus on supporting field operations.
Physically fit and able to work in adverse conditions and respond to emergency situations.
Ability to obtain and maintain HSE credentials required for job-specific training or compliance.
Be physically fit for duty.
75-80% travel.

Work Conditions:
Field-based work involving exposure to varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to site-specific safety protocols.
Extensive travel to remote work sites and contractor facilities is required.
Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
