Summary: ATS is seeking a Corporate Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to support ATS facilities throughout the United States. Candidates located in the Southeast preferred.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Review, monitor, and modify State and Federal Radioactive Materials licensing requirements; correspond with state regulators; and comply with new rules and regulations.
Maintain National Source Tracking System (NSTS) records, ensure compliance with Annual Inventory Reconciliation (AIR), and Radiation Exposure Information Reporting System (REIRS).
Monitor daily notifications to state DNR for work performed by all ATS offices.
Maintain inventory of cameras and sources in the possession of ATS.
Maintain records of source acquisition, change-out, and disposal.
Maintenance, repair, and documentation of exposure devices, control cables, and source device equipment; and leak testing of cameras and sources.
Document, verify, monitor. and calibrate dosimeters, alarming rate meters, and survey meters.
Ship and receive radioactive sources.
Audit and monitor activities at the ATS office locations. Audit source radiographers to ascertain compliance with Radiation Safety and ALARA.
Support other ATS branches in maintaining licensing, reciprocity agreements, and compliance.
Perform annual inspection and audit satellite ATS facilities for compliance with state rules and regulations.
Requisition materials associated with radiation safety and radiation control.
Supervise the retrieval of sources that cannot be secured in exposure device due to incident or accident.
Monitor daily tracking logs, utilization logs, quarterly maintenance of devices, quarterly monitoring of detection equipment, and area monitoring devices.
Monitor daily access and utilization of radioactive sources.
Act as Reviewing Official for the granting of access to Radioactive Materials (T&R list).
Monitor and oversee usage of NRC license by all offices, including Office and location of use; camera and source utilized; and documentation of personnel on site, proper calibration of equipment, and work performed.
Perform and/or review investigations of overexposures, accidents, losses, thefts, unauthorized receipts, misuses, or other deviations from approved radiation safety practice and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Develop and conduct Radiation Safety training for radiographic personnel.
Review associated paperwork, supervision of Radiographers and Assistant Radiographers, conducting radiation safety meetings, annual and quarterly audits of all field locations, conducting semi-annual field inspections of radiation safety personnel. Ensure that radiation safety activities are conducted in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
5+ years Must possess experience in the establishment and maintenance of a radiation protection program.
Must have (or acquire) formal training in the establishment and maintenance of a Radiation protection program.
Certified Radiographer with IRRSP Certification preferred.
Up to 50% travel required.

Work Conditions:
Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
Work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, man-baskets, etc.
Work in confined spaces which will require crawling, stooping, climbing, etc.
Work in around operating equipment and industrial environments.
Work with radiation and hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, film developing chemicals, etc.
Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds.
