Job Title: Nuclear Lead Auditor
Department: Quality Assurance / Nuclear Operations

Position Summary:
The Nuclear Lead Auditor is responsible for planning, leading, performing and reporting of quality audits, assessments, and surveillance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal quality assurance programs in nuclear facilities or projects. This role ensures that all processes, documentation, and procedures meet the stringent standards required for nuclear safety, quality, and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
-Conduct quality control audits of nuclear processes, suppliers, contractors, and internal departments in accordance with NQA-1, NRC, DOE, or equivalent regulatory standards.
-Prepare detailed audit plans, checklists, and reports to assess compliance with quality assurance and control requirements.
-Identify nonconformances and areas for improvement and verify the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
-Review and verify QC documentation, including material certifications, inspection reports, and testing results.
-Monitor field QC activities such as welding, NDE (nondestructive examination), mechanical/electrical installations, and material handling for compliance with approved procedures.
-Ensure proper implementation of quality management systems (QMS) and verify alignment with licensing, regulatory, and technical specifications.
-Participate in the development and continuous improvement of QA/QC programs, procedures, and training initiatives.
-Interface with regulatory authorities, project teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure quality compliance across the project lifecycle.
-Maintain accurate and comprehensive audit records, findings, and follow-up documentation.
Qualifications:
-Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Assurance, Nuclear Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
-Must have completed 5 audits in 3 years with at least 1 nuclear audit in the past year.
-Certified Lead Auditor per ANSI/ASME NQA-1 or equivalent (preferred).
-Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASME, NQA-1, NRC 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ISO 9001, etc.
-Experience with vendor surveillance, fabrication shop audits, and field QC inspections.
-Familiarity with safety and regulatory frameworks in nuclear environments (e.g., NRC, DOE, INPO).

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both office and industrial field environments, including active nuclear construction or operating sites.
May involve exposure to radiation and strict safety and security protocols.
Occasional travel may be required.
