The PipeCheck 3 is the latest in the PipeCheck Series which has been used successfully in the UK water, gas and petrochemical industries for many years. With an established reputation for reliability and enhancing safety, the PipeCheck 3 is now housed in a more rugged and ergonomic case, developed with the operator in mind.
PipeCheck 3 is a simple to use hand-held instrument which positively identifies pipes filled with water and other fluids, using ultrasound. PipeCheck 3 is designed to address the major identification problems, experienced by engineers engaged mostly in the water and gas service industries, when old cast or spun iron pipes are exposed.
When the instrument detects a full pipe, with water or other fluids, a green light and audible alarm are activated. This can only occur when certain electronic criteria are satisfied within PipeCheck 3, otherwise a red light shows.
Should the pipe contain gas, whether natural gas or air, or other contents, the sound remains within the pipe wall and the red light is triggered, as sound will not travel within the pipe. If there are numerous red lights only this could suggest a gas pipe, a "dead" pipe, a telecom trunking, a cable duct, or a heavily corroded and constricted water pipe; which in turn indicates further investigation is required.
The PipeCheck 3 is covered by a two-year comprehensive guarantee and comes with a probe and integral cable, manual, wire brush, couplant and transit case.
