The new Pipe Robot SIGMA HD-LR is the ultimate tool for inspecting long pipes in one go due to its optimum dimensions. It works on a range of pipes starting from 14" in diameter. The pipe crawler can cover a distance of 6,560 feet due to the LiFePO4 battery that allows reducing the thickness of the cable, so there is no energy loss, as when powered by an external power source. The battery also adds additional weight, which provides extra friction. The Pipe Robot is also capable of plotting pipes and measuring damages.
The SIGMA HD-LR is equipped with two HD 1080p video cameras, which provide frontal pan, tilt,10x optical and 12x digital zoom, as well as the ability to view the inspection area from the back of the robot. Both cameras are corrosion-proof with a waterproof rear connector and can take 0.1 bar in freshwater, making them indispensable for inspections of wet spaces. Illumination is provided by built-in ultra-bright LEDs 4000LM, with an optional auxiliary light available. The image sensor is protected by a scratch-proof sapphire crystal lens and provides a 62-degree field view. The camera also includes manual/auto focus, laser measurement, a camera position sensor and a camera internal pressure sensor.
The motorized reel includes up to 2,000m (6,560 ft) of working length and is capable of paying and retracting, as well as regulating itself. It is operated by a smart cable-laying mechanism and is indispensable when it comes to tricky navigation. The 5.0mm combined cable is Kevlar-reinforced and is housed in polyurethane. The wet cable end is made out of stainless steel and provides strain relief. The tether has a strength of 2,000N.
The steerable four-wheel drive crawler is made out of stainless steel and contains two powerful motors, 160 watts each. The crawler also features cruise control and a roll sensor.
The control unit contains dual monitors, each one equipped with 17.3 and 7" touch screens and a built-in telemetry computer. TELESCAN built-in software is also included. An onscreen length counter lets you keep track of how the inspection is going.
