NDT Level II Tech (RT, PT, MT, UT)
RT (Radiographic): Perform radiographic inspections using a gamma-ray camera with an Iridium 192 source. Using Iridium 192 source for field radiography of pipe welds, pressure vessels, and oils storage tanks on a wide variety of metallic materials, stainless steel, carbon steel, pipe, and fabricated and manufactured extrusion welds. Responsible for determining the proper Ci (Curies), focal spot size and film distance using radiographic codes and specifications. Determine the type and position of pentrameters to be used to qualify the radiograph. Experience includes calculating shot times and distances, and establishing a 2mr boundaries for safety of public and coworkers, and proper usage of dosimeter and rate alarms, operating cameras, dark room film development, interpreting, evaluating and documenting film results. Maintain chemicals utilized for testing at proper levels.
PT (Dye Penetrant): Performed penetrant tests using visible water washable dye and interpreting evaluating and documenting film results. Maintain chemicals utilized for testing at proper levels.
MT (Magnetic Particles): Using the Magnetic Particle testing method using magnaflux wet, magnaflux dry, and magnaflux wet fluorescent testing methods using circular and longitudinal magnetic fields using head shots, coil shots, central conductor shots, prods and yokes to detect defects on or near the surface of a variety of materials. Interpretation and evaluation of magnetic particle testing results and the proper use of backlights when applicable.
UT (Ultrasonic): Using ultrasonic testing method to determine accurate thickness measurements and scanning pip and other various materials using longitudinal applications for defects on the surface and subsurface areas.
Extensive travel.
