Experience
Experience:
Performed the Radiographic testing method using a Pantec x-ray tube and Varian x-ray unit. Utilizing the radiographic inspection method on a wide variety of metallic materials such as forgings, castings, tubing, pipe, fabricated and manufactured extrusion welds, and other various parts. Also experienced using a Iridium 192 source for field radiography of pipe welds, pressure vessels, and storage tanks and establishing a 2mr boundary and proper usage of dosemitry and rate meters. Responsible for determining the proper x-ray units, focal spot size, and focal film distance using radiographic codes and specifications. Experienced in determining the type and position of penetrameters to be used to qualify the radiograph. Able to read and interpret film and compare specimens with drawings and specifications. Also experienced in film processing and darkroom techniques.
Performed the Liquid Penetrant testing method using magnaflux visible dye solvent removable, magnaflux water washable, magnaflux fluorescent, and magnaflux post emulsifiable liquid penetrants with dry, non-aqueous wet, and wet developers. Inspecting various types of sand castings, investment castings, weldments, sub-weldments, forgings, and pipe welds to locate primary, secondary, and service induced discontinuities such as cracks, crater cracks, pin holes, laminations, and other defects open too the surface. Skilled using the proper techniques in the interpretation and evaluation of liquid penetrant test results by using adequate lighting, and proper use of a black light when applicable. Also in using the proper dwell times as specified in codes and procedures. Experienced in the documentation of liquid penetrant test results.
Experienced using the Magnetic Particle testing method using magnaflux wet, magnaflux dry, and magnaflux wet fluorescent testing methods using circular and longitudinal magnetic fields using head shots, coil shots central conductor shots, prods, and yokes to detect defects on or near the surface of a variety of ferromagnetic material. Experienced in interpretation and evaluation of magnetic particle test results and the proper use of black lights when applicable.
Also experienced using the ultrasonic test method to determine accurate thickness measurements and scanning pipe and other various materials using longitudinal saves for defects on the surface or sub-surface using a panametrics 36dl or krautkramer meters. Also have the training hours to obtain certification in shear wave ultrasonic’s.
Also performed Visual weld examinations and welding audits on individual welders to make sure welds were correct size, being welded according to procedures and drawings.
