PROCOR – Berkshire Hathaways – Ultrasonics and Magnetic Particle NDT Technician (2013 – 2015)

Operated automated ultrasonic equipment to inspect the integrity of train wheels for discontinuities. Performed magnetic particle inspections on train axles (journal area/journal fillets) to ensure quality upkeep in reconditioned wheel sets. Also a high degree of procedures/measurements undertaken according to AAR standards.

APPLUS RTD – NDT Technician 2013 – 2013

Anticipated deployment to Alberta cancelled during waiting period. I have taken multiple engineering safety courses and renewal of CPR Level C and Standard First Aid course.

ATLAS TUBE - JMC Steel Group, Harrow, Ontario Canada www.atlastube.com 2012 – 2013

A newly created position: to assist with Quality Control - relating to new customer requirements for pipeline production. Regularly maintained and repaired Inspectech Automated scanner. Collected tensile test coupons for inspection/testing. Collected pipe samples of different sizes/gauge to be made into customized calibration blocks.
Designed and taught a training course for Ultrasonics in order to educate the shop floor employees in the plant.
Attended management meetings as required.
Developed and taught a training course for company employees related to NDT purpose, methods and the
Inspectech Automated scanner. Established a new position within a company unfamiliar with Quality Control and NDT Technology. Took initiative to set up and establish an area within plant to store collected NDT pipe reference samples.

NDT Technician (Fulltime)

Worked in Fort St. John, British Columbia on Cambrian and Talisman Energy projects utilizing visual and tensile testing techniques on the new technology of plastic pipe fusion.

Responsibilities:

Worked as a team following pipeline installers as they placed HDPE plastic pipeline sections in place and fused
sections together. NDT team would test and confirm if welds were acceptable utilizing both visual and tensile
testing methods. When welds were unacceptable, required to notify "fusers" to cut and redo pipe section.
Complete required documentation and reports.
Attend team meetings as required.
Work both individually and as part of a team.

Achievements:

Learned new technology for HDPE pipe, took Sandale Utility fusion course.

Contracted to Kearl Oil Sands Pipeline Project to test approx. 40 welds per day.

Responsibilities:

Performed automated ultrasonic inspections of 42 inch pipeline. Identify weld irregularities and ensure corrections were made. Complete appropriate documentation as required. Attend team meetings as required.
Worked 12 hour shifts 7 days a week.

Utilized various NDT methods while working on many projects in Australia.

Responsibilities:
Performed magnetic particle testing, visual inspection, radiography, dye penetrate testing, mechanical testing and
ultrasonic methods while working on various projects in Australia. Utilized blue print reading while working on Stanwell Power Plant. Phased Array Ultrasonic testing, digital radiography with VMI technology and Eddy Current testing was used while working on Yarwun 2 power Plant project.

I was the first Canadian ever recruited by this company.
Enjoyed applying many NDT testing methods in this role.


Shawcor Ltd- Shaw Pipe Line Services, Houston Texas, USA/Gulf of Mexico www.shawcor.com 2007 -2008
NDT Technician (Contract - offshore)

Stationed and lived aboard the "Solitaire" vessel which lays pipeline along the ocean floor 24 hours a day in the Gulf of Mexico.

Responsibilities:
Assembled custom in-house automated ultrasonic scanner to be used on Ocean floor piping and offshore oil rigs in Houston, Texas, USA. Performed ultrasonic scanning of ocean pipes while working 12 hour shifts/ 7 days a week for up to a 6 week rotation at a time onboard Solitaire. On average 300 ocean pipes were scanned every 24 hr. period.

Achievements:
Obtained Marine Survival Training Course in Lafayette, Louisiana - this course was designed to certify me for
offshore work and included Sea Survival training, Helicopter Underwater Egress training, escape systems training, Fire Fighting, CPR training/Defibrillators, and Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency training.
