Resonetics is the leader in laser micromachining polymers for life sciences. We solve challenges to manufacture sub-millimeter features. We laser material up to 1mm thick with features down to 2µm in diameter. The Lightspeed ADL™ is equipped with laser workstations for process development and prototyping. Resonetics offers the largest capacity for laser micromachining polymers in ultra-violet wavelengths. Our 64,000 sq. ft. site has a 6,000 sq. ft. Class 8 cleanroom and more than 50 laser workstations.
Resonetics is the leader in laser micromachining polymers for the life sciences industry. For more than 25 years, we’ve focused on solving challenges to manufacture sub-millimeter features in various polymer materials. We cut, drill and ablate polymers up to 1mm thick and create features as small as 2µm in diameter.
Because speed to market is so critical, we created the Lightspeed ADL™. This 8,000 sq. ft. application development lab is equipped with nine dedicated laser workstations including excimer, DPSS, CO2, femtosecond and picosecond technologies. Our development team has more than 185 man-years of experience with PhDs, optical scientists and mechanical engineers and technicians on staff. Resonetics has many industry firsts and is serious about innovation, investing six percent of sales into internal R&D initiatives each year, resulting in five issued process patents and multiple others pending.
When it’s time for volume production, Resonetics offers the world’s largest capacity for laser micromachining polymers in ultra-violet wavelengths. Our modern 64,000 sq. ft. facility features a 6,000 sq. ft. Class 8 cleanroom for manufacturing with more than 50 laser workstations. With our own systems engineering and manufacturing capability, we are able to design and build purpose-built workstations to address specific customer needs cost-effectively.
Our team includes multiple Six Sigma certified black and green belts. We operate under ISO 13485:2003 certification with QSR-compliant procedures and have a robust validation process.
Resonetics operates in many specialties within life sciences that increasingly require precision polymer micromachining. Some examples include:
Cutting and drilling of sensors for continuous glucose monitoring
Skiving, drilling and ablating catheters for access and drug delivery
Cutting bioresorbable scaffolds
Drilling holes and creating microfluidic channels for diagnostic cartridges
Stripping polymer coatings from fine wires
Drilling micro holes for implantable ophthalmic devices
Laser surface texturing balloons and thin metals
