There is an immediate opening for a Technical Specialist, Equipment Inspection and QA/QC
in the Equipment Skill Center within our Engineered and Fabricated Systems group. The Equipment Skill Center supports the design, fabrication, and installation of modular, skid-mounted, and stand-alone equipment.

Accountabilities of this position include:
• The development of procedures, tools, and products which impact UOP’s technical growth and profitability.
• Keeping up-to-date with current technology developments in assigned area and sharing this knowledge with others, where appropriate through leadership of the Project Inspection & QA/QC sub process.
• Documentation of skill expertise through written memos, procedures, tools, and papers.
• Analyzing and recommending solutions to technical problems in the Inspection & QA/QC area.
• Provision of Inspection & QA/QC skill resources for technical sales support as needed by Project Management for fixed price proposals, cost estimates and design basis data. Review of Inspection & QA/QC estimates at proposal stage where Client Specifications demand a significant increase over the norm.
• Provide Inspection & QA/QC technical support for the procurement of materials, engineering and fabrication for Equipment product lines.
• Provide technical support for the development and maintenance of outside vendor relationships required to support Engineered & Fabricated Systems products. Specifically coordinate with the selected detailed design subcontractor (if applicable), equipment vendors and fabricator to ensure a sound Inspection & QA/QC project plan.
• Creation of system related procedures to allow most project related Inspection & QA/QC activities to be done by the project team members.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to equipment engineers regarding the Inspection & QA/QC plan for their equipment.
• Provision of inspection services either via UOP personnel or qualified third party inspectors.
• Identify opportunities for work process and design tool improvements.
• Working effectively with team members.


Skills:
Qualified candidate must have:
• Extensive Inspection and QA/QC background. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering desirable but not required.
• At least five years experience in the petroleum refining, petrochemical, or gas processing industries.
• Weld Procedures and NDE experience with piping, structural and pressure vessels.
• Relevant work experience in Inspection and QA/QC engineering, constructability, field support and troubleshooting.
• Travel is a requirement of the job and consists of travel to Fabrication shops, customer / contractor offices and occasional travel to customer sites. Travel will be approximately 5-15%.
• Familiarity with MS Office software.
