As a member of the Nondestructive Evaluation Department, this individual will be responsible for advanced NDE technology development activities related to the examination of Space Transportation System hardware and associated Ground Support Equipment. Experience using automated data acquisition and analysis systems and directing nondestructive inspection development or application projects are desired. Knowledge of materials of construction and fabrication methods for aerospace hardware is preferred. Knowledge of statistics, probability of detection principles, and designed of experiments is desired.
Skills:
Bachelor's Degree plus 4-7 years related experience. MS/PhD or equivalent through experience in ultrasonic, acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, or laser experimentation and additional experience in areas such as analysis/modeling/simulation, robotics, and mechanical design is preferred. This position will take a lead role in projects aimed at the development of new technologies for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) and characterization of metallic and non-metallic aerospace materials. Responsibilities will include writing proposals to acquire new funding, project management, conducting experimental research and testing, and technical leadership for existing projects. Periodic domestic/foreign travel may be required. Level III certification from American Society for Nondestructive Testing is preferred.
