Requirements Nondestructive Evaluation Level II Quality Assurance Specialist responsible to perform NDE inspections for the Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Directorate at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities include:
1. Set up/calibrate NDE (Nondestructive Evaluation) inspection equipment and perform NDE inspections of NASA flight, Astronaut training, ground support hardware, facilities pressure systems and other NASA related functions.
2. Evaluate, interpret, and document inspection results in accordance with approved work instructions.
3. Follow NASA and SAIC Team environmental compliance and health and safety plans, policies and procedures.
4. Planning and scheduling required calibrations of inspection equipment.
5. Provide assistance with NDE supplies and equipment procurements.
6. Perform minor maintenance of NDE inspection equipment.
7. Approximately 5 percent short duration travel will be required.
8. Must be willing to work occasional overtime and shifts periodically (minimal).

EDUCATION: Associates of Applied Science Degree in Nondestructive Evaluation preferred

Skills:
REQUIRED SKILLS:
1. Must possess a current AWS (American Welding Society)/CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) or 5 years minimum welding/NDE experience to certify immediately.
2. Must be qualified per NAS (National Aerospace Standard) 410. Prefer NDE Level II in radiography (x-ray tube experience), ultrasonic, liquid penetrate, magnetic particle and the eddy current inspection methods.
3. Must have previous NDE Level II certifications in accordance with NAS 410 or ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing)
4. Must have verifiable and documented NDE work experience and training records to confirm NAS 410 qualifications.
5. Must have basic knowledge and use of personal computer with typical business software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics etc.
6. Excellent written, verbal communication and report writing skills are mandatory.
7. Must be capable of interpreting engineering drawings (blueprints).
8. This position will require oral and written interaction with customer personnel.
10. Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.

DESIRED SKILLS:
1. A strong NDE technical knowledge and experience in the aerospace industry. Experience in other industries will be considered such as power plants, chemical, refining, fabrication and others.
2. Experience with other NDE methods will be a plus, i.e. thermography, realtime radiography, computed tomography, laser shearography, phased array and immersion ultrasonics.
