This position provides engineering and technical support to the Maintenance and Reliability Department and the Asset Teams in the development of repairs and improvements to stationary equipment and piping. Involved with daily issues in an Area (or Areas) and assures the appropriate solutions are implemented and utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostics and predictive techniques. Leads failure analysis investigations to understand root causes. Assures compliance with applicable codes and refinery standards and conducts “fitness for service” evaluations of existing stationary equipment, including boilers, fired heaters, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and pressure piping. Performs code calculations for remaining life assessments of existing equipment and piping. Provides support during planned and unplanned outages and other critical periods.

This position provides the primary focus for achieving high reliability of stationary equipment and piping through effective use of effective fitness for service assessments.
Skills:
- Bachelor of Engineering/Technical degree.
- 3 years experience in inspection engineering; Petroleum refining or petrochemical industries preferred.
- Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in fitness for service assessments.
- Knowledge in Risk Based Inspection (RBI) technology.
- Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in diagnostic and predictive techniques.
- Has specific knowledge and understanding of appropriate codes and standards, such as API, ASME, and ANSI. Has the ability to perform design and verification calculations per code requirements.
- Understands the mechanical integrity element of the OSHA PSM regulation and is specifically familiar with and can conduct Management of Change (MOC’s), Process Safety Reviews (PSR’s) and Hazardous Operations reviews (HAZOP’s).
- Knowledgeable in failure investigation techniques, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting analysis.
- Knowledgeable in welding and fabrication methods.
- Working knowledge of inspection/corrosion databases, such as PCMS is desired.
- Working knowledge of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) technology is desired.
- Basic understanding of refinery processes.
- Good analytical skills.
- Capable of conducting an incident investigation.
