GENERAL SUMMARY: Location Chesapeake, VA
Performs a variety of quality control tests/inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc.; for U.S. Submarines and Surface Ships. Works under general supervision; Performs additional duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs a variety of quality control tests (i.e., operational and hydrostatic tests)/ QA and NDT inspections on products, materials, components, parts, etc. at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards.
Records and analyzes data and writes summaries and reports to validate or show deviations from existing standards.
Recommends modifications to existing, or suggests new, standards, methods, and procedures.
Maintains appropriate documentation related to quality assurance tests and inspections.
May lead, train, or otherwise guide employees in quality improvement efforts.
Develops and or review test and inspection plans.
Participates in special projects as required.

Skills:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
Associates Degree preferred.
Professional or GDIT certification(s) may be required.
Paint Inspector experince perferred.

Typically requires 3-5 years of related experience, with specific expereince as a Submarine Quality Assurance Inspector.
NDT certifications in VT, PT and MT preferred.
Expereince in Blue Print reading preferred.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Comprehensive knowledge of company and customer quality standards.
Effective communications skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is typically performed in an industrial or shipyard environment, and at field sites and client facilities, which requires proper safety equipment and precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes, tools or equipment. Must be willing to travel when required.
