SI's field inspection services group has realized significant growth through the selection of talented, self-motivated and experienced individuals, development of advanced inspection systems, and implementation of advanced technologies to solve some of industry's most critical and challenging problems.
The available position is for an individual with experience in application of innovative solutions for customer and industry inspection issues using advanced ultrasonic applications including but not limited to Time of Flight Diffractions (TOFD), annular and linear phased array, as well as conventional ultrasonic techniques. Along with the development of innovative solutions, newly developed and enhanced inspection techniques require proper documentation, procedures and training, and in many cases first time delivery of the solution into the field.
Key Accountabilities:
• Organizes, executes, and coordinates project assignments
• Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods
• Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or complex problems which have a major effect on the success of SI
• Demonstrate project management skills and supervise work of staff of engineers and technicians
• Responsible for important segments of the commercial and engineering activities of the Company, including technology development, revenue generation, and technical and commercial success of projects.
• Represents SI before clients in a manner consistent with corporate core values
• Provides development and mentoring of staff to meet expanding business and succession needs
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Ensures the quality of services and products
• Performs other related duties, as assigned
Skills:
• 10 years experience in application and development of NDE techniques and procedures
• Familiarity with field implementation of advanced NDE techniques with an emphasis on automated inspection systems, scanners, data process and analysis testing
• Experience with ASME inspection Codes and procedures, including ASME Appendix VII and VIII preferred
• Demonstrated administrative and technical skills, creativity, and sound engineering judgment in anticipating and solving challenging problems
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Individuals should be qualified to at least NDE Level II in UT and at least one other of the three disciplines listed; UT, ET, MT and PT
• General knowledge of fabrication concepts, welding, materials and processes
• Ability to create and read basic mechanical drawings
• Ability to read, comprehend and/or prepare technical specifications and procedures
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software with basic computer skills
• Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills and detail oriented
• Professional appearance and exhibit professional behavior
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize different projects
• Open to flexible and/or extended work hours and job responsibilities
• Secondary education in NDE, science, materials, or engineering with relevant experience: BS and 10+ years of experience; MS or PhD preferred
Travel
The position requires some travel to project sites and other offices (approximately 10-20%)
