Operations Manager
A Major OEM industrial repair facility for steam and gas turbine repairs providing high-quality repair services for the power generation, pipeline, petrochemical and paper mill industries is seeking a Repair Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
• Plan shop loading
• Organize resources to ensure On Time Delivery
• Communicate requirements to the Shop Personnel
• Monitor and report Schedule, Cost and Quality progress
• Identify and resolve issues that could delay work flow
• Organization Development
• Develop teams that have clear ownership and accountability for OTD, Cost & Quality
• Develop personnel to meet Production skill requirements
• Manage personnel to cover absence and vacation as necessary
• Approve vacation requests in accordance with Company Policy to ensure OTD
Processes, standards, systems and records
• Ensure existing Repair and Production requirements are understood and maintained
• Help to develop a culture of continual improvement
• Communicate changes to teams, including in particular specification changes
Personnel and Selection
• Identify specific capacity and capability requirements or problems in the team
• Participate in personnel selection
• Review personnel progress and performance
• Participate in personnel disciplining where necessary
• Ensuring safety and well being of staff by proactive involvement and adherence to company health and safety policy.
Skill planning and management
• Ensure facility and client interface is flowing
• Ensure that the appropriate level of skills and capability are available
• Ensure that requirements are forecast in a timely manner
Training and development
• Ensure the effectiveness of OJT in improving and maintaining Production capability
Skills:
The ideal candidate will have excellent client relationship skills as well as a strong background in Steam and Gas Turbines, Compressors related to all aspects in the turbine industry and a min. of 10 yrs of management experience including P&L responsibilities.
Candidate Requirements
• Experience of ISO 9000 / 9001 and API 610 procedures and practices
• Knowledge of machine shop practices and operator training requirements
• Knowledge of process parameters and controls in plants (customer)
• Ability to quote repair work for quick turnaround and planned outages
• Proven track record
• Good communication skills
• Sound engineering background
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Previous experience in a supervisory / management position desirable.
