SCOPE:
• Develops in-service inspection procedures for use throughout the operating business units. The inspection procedures are used to provide consistent application of inspection techniques to investigate equipment specific deterioration modes.

KEY AREA OF CONTRIBUTION:
• Develops in-service inspection planning documents for the individual business units to support shutdown and maintenance activities (inspection shutdown planning).
• Acts in the capacity of Chief Inspector during his absence – assuming the responsibilities of ABSA liaison and supervising in-service Lead Inspectors.
• Acts in the capacity of Lead Inspector during their absence providing supervision to the business unit in-service inspectors - reacting to the day-to-day inspection needs of the business unit and providing expertise in the utilization of inspection technology over a wide array of equipment such as pressure vessels, boiler, fired heats and process piping.
• Acts as Horizon key contact for ABSA Design Survey (engineering) activities.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure that CNRL in-service inspection personnel are provided with detailed inspection procedures to support the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIMS) Program.
• Liaise with ABSA Authorized Inspector.
• Work with Asset Integrity, Operations, Maintenance and Process Control groups to identify opportunities for improvements to enhance equipment integrity and bottom line performance via in-service inspections.
• Supervise inspections of in-service equipment and piping.
• Supervise contract in-service inspectors during plant shutdowns.
• Support the management and supervision of contract NDE personnel.
• Assist in the management, maintenance and optimization of the PEIMS Program as well as maintenance of the pressure equipment database.
• Key participant in commissioning and start-up activities.
• Participate in failure investigation and root cause analyses.
• Supervise the review, approval, and inspection of pressure equipment repairs.
• Audit or evaluate existing/new vendor facilities.
• Provide leadership and expertise in verifying through audit or inspection that the Horizon PEIMS Program, CNRL Standards, Procedure and Regulatory requirements have been met.
• Promotes a quality culture among the Plant Teams.
Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Education & Experience:
• Preferred applicants will be graduates of a Mechanical/Metallurgical/Materials or Welding Engineering Technology Program and at least 5 years experience as an in-service inspector with experience on pressure vessels, boilers, fired heaters, tanks and pressure piping.
• Hold a current Alberta In-Service Pressure Vessel Inspection OR Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection certification.
• Preferred applicants will have In-service Inspection experience in the petrochemical, refining or upgrading industry.
• National Board or API-510 certification is mandatory. API-570 or API-653 certifications are optional. NDT certification is also an asset but is not required although training in this area is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of applicable ASME and API Codes or Standards.
• Intermediate Computer Skills, experience with Microsoft Office Software & strong understanding of Microsoft Outlook.

Personal Qualities:
• Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to understand written work related documents, including engineered drawings
• Supervisory experience in an In-Service Inspection organization
