The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR), located at Wichita State University in Wichita, KS, is a premier aviation research organization that has gained national and international recognition for its programs and laboratories. NIAR is engaged in basic and applied research, testing and certification. The city of Wichita, KS is a home of major aerospace industry, namely Spirit Aerosystems, Boeing, Hawker Beechcraft, Cessna, Bombardier-Learjet and many aviation suppliers. NIAR is seeking a candidate for the position Research Engineer and NDT Instructor. To be considered for the position, applicants must provide a resume and three professional related references. In addition, the applicant must complete an on-line application. Deadline for receipt of applications is October 12, 2012. Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory criminal background check as required by the Board of Regents policy.
Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
(1) Two years experience in predictive NDT with a Bachelors degree or five years experience in NDT with an Associate’s degree, (2) Level III certification in Vibration Analysis, (3) Demonstrated ability with electric motor operations, balancing, and alignment, (4) Demonstrated knowledge of bearing fault isolation, (5) Demonstrated knowledge of electric motor lubrication and oil analysis fundamentals.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills &Abilities
(1) Bachelors degree, (2) Three years experience in predictive NDT, (3) Demonstrated experience with thermography and electrical fault troubleshooting, (4) Demonstrated experience performing air surveys with Air Bourne Ultrasound, (5) Demonstrated experience with motor circuit analysis.
