We are looking for a Nondestructive Test Systems Coordinator at our Portland, Oregon location. This person will be responsible for ensuring that the proper non-destructive inspections of pipe products meet CSA, API, ASTM and/or other industry standards and customer specifications. As such, provides functional direction to NDT personnel at the facility. This person also pprovides technical support services to the Senior NDT Engineer by assisting in personnel training and certification, equipment troubleshooting support, new equipment installation support, best operating practice development and the development of improved process control systems to monitor the real-time effectiveness of our NDT systems.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for ensuring the proper non-destructive inspection techniques of pipe products at Evraz Portland Tubular facility meets CSA, API, ASTM and/or customer specifications.
Help develop procedures/schedules for the maintenance of NDT equipment to ensure proper inspection including calibration and PMs in compliance with industry standards.
Provides functional direction to NDT personnel in the Portland Tubular facility.
Provides training and assist in company certification to NDT employees (UT, MT & VT disciplines).
Has a complete knowledge of the equipment and processes to manufacture UT calibration standards and can direct and monitor NDT personnel in the process.
Provides troubleshooting manuals/training for operators of equipment.
Develop standard operating best practices for NDT systems.
Maintain a complete understanding of current CSA, API, ASTM and customer specification requirements in regards to ultrasonic and inspection and ensure all ultrasonic operators are knowledgeable regarding the safe and proper use of the equipment to meet these requirements.
Review and assess the design of pipe handling and NDT testing equipment for optimal use, including the safe and proper use of the equipment in NDT inspection operations.
Maintain an updated inventory list of all NDT equipment at the Tubular facility.
Manage the NDT assets, (i.e. inventory management).
Keep up-to-date on new equipment, systems and techniques by reading related literature and attending related conferences, seminars and new equipment exhibitions.
Leads initiatives on new NDT installations which includes:
Working with engineering on project scope development.
Working with vendor on system design, process control philosophy.
Monitoring pre-shipment acceptance testing
Monitoring installation ensuring technical scope items are in place
Conducting acceptance testing with employees
Provide expert advice with regard to NDT issues and QA-related projects involving manufacturing practices or the final decision for the acceptance or rejection of potentially nonconforming pipe.
Develops NDT auditing plans for compliance with NDT written practices and oversees NDT audits.
Develops NDT KPI shift reports for process control of NDT systems. Including calibration, S/N analysis, Threshold levels of flaws alarmed/those not alarmed, etc., position of flaws in the coil/pipe, flaws/heat/coil.
Represents Tubular regarding NDT issues during customer audits, field inspections and when mill inspection occasions arise.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of Level II Certification in Industrial Ultrasonic to SNT-TC - 1A. Level II RT, MT & VT a plus.
5 years experience using NDT in a related industry.
Experience with NDT techniques (preferably automated and manual UT) and the development of training programs and materials.
Knowledge of pipe mill operations, equipment and machinery, including some hands-on experience.
Thorough knowledge of CSA, API, ASTM and customer specifications.
Proficient in MS Office tools such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience giving presentations to management regarding project results.
Experience writing technical reports summarizing key findings and identifying next steps.
Experience working with interdepartmental teams at all levels of management to accomplish tasks.
